Blockchain & Web3
About the Role UltaHost is launching decentralized infrastructure services by combining IPFS and smart contracts to power a new era of Web3 hosting. We're hiring a Web3 Backend Engineer to help us build secure, scalable, and efficient backend systems that connect IPFS-based storage with Ethereum-compatible smart contracts. You will develop key services that power decentralized file hosting, NFT metadata, smart billing, and more.
You will work with DevOps, product, and blockchain teams to integrate IPFS infrastructure with blockchain protocols and user-facing applications. This is a highly technical role with critical backend responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain APIs and microservices that interact with IPFS and smart contracts
- Develop secure upload, retrieval, and pinning systems for IPFS storage
- Design backend logic to connect decentralized storage with blockchain-based access control
- Write smart contract interaction modules for NFTs, subscriptions, or tokenized services
- Handle user authentication via wallet (MetaMask, WalletConnect) and integrate on-chain identity
- Optimize performance for high-volume IPFS-based content access
- Maintain secure communication between backend systems and blockchain nodes (e.g., Infura, Alchemy, self-hosted)
- Collaborate on architecture design with distributed systems and product teams
- Write clear documentation and contribute to internal standards for secure Web3 APIs
Requirements
- 4+ years experience in backend development (Node.js, Go, or Python preferred)
- Strong experience with IPFS, including pinning, gateways, and CID management
- Proficiency in integrating Ethereum smart contracts via web3.js or ethers.js
- Familiarity with Solidity smart contracts and on-chain data structures
- Deep understanding of RESTful APIs and backend security practices
- Experience with MongoDB, Redis, or PostgreSQL
- Working knowledge of JWT, OAuth, and wallet-based authentication flows
- Comfortable with Docker, CI/CD tools, and scalable backend architecture
- Solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals, dApps, and decentralized identity
Bonus Points
- Experience building NFT or token-based platforms
- Familiarity with Layer 2 chains (Polygon, Arbitrum) or cross-chain storage bridges
- Contributions to open-source Web3 backend tools or IPFS projects
- Familiarity with decentralized domain systems like ENS or Unstoppable Domains
- Past experience working in a blockchain-based SaaS or hosting product
What We Offer
- Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses
- Access to top-tier infrastructure and mentorship in decentralized hosting
- Opportunity to shape real Web3 products used by developers and creators globally
