What you'll do

  • Drive annual planning, OKR alignment, and progress tracking across the technology organization.
  • Take on sensitive, fast-moving cross-department initiatives that need discretion and the ability to pull the right people together quickly.
  • Lead the centralized PMO function; define and implement its vision, operating model, and governance framework.
  • Define and manage a portfolio of strategic initiatives spanning platform modernization, checkout/payments, fulfillment, personalization, subscription systems, and experience transformation.
  • Build the operating framework the org uses to prioritize work, track milestones, resolve dependencies, manage budget, and flag risk before it becomes a problem.
  • Keep Business, Engineering, Product, Data, and Infrastructure pulling in the same direction on scope, sequencing, and delivery dates.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of project/program managers; establish standardized methodologies (Agile, hybrid, stage-gate) fit to each program type.
  • Drive end-to-end execution of complex, cross-functional programs (e.g., platform enhancements, personalization, fulfillment optimization).
  • Introduce best practices, tools, and technologies to enhance execution (e.g., Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, portfolio tools).
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to strengthen Agile practices and delivery predictability.
  • Support roadmap planning, backlog prioritization, and release governance.
  • Enable data-driven decision-making and iterative delivery models.
  • Own team oversight of Digital Operations and Site Event Operations, ensuring platform reliability, operational readiness, and flawless execution of peak commerce and site events.
  • Drive the design and adoption of digital operational best practices across platform engineering, QA, SRE, and support.
  • Define and own key digital operational performance KPIs (e.g., uptime, page load time, deployment frequency, incident MTTR, and error rates).
  • Lead continuous improvement rituals (retrospectives, postmortems, tooling upgrades) to reduce friction and improve delivery velocity.
  • Ensure the PMO risk framework accounts for payment/PCI-DSS compliance, data privacy, and third-party vendor risk (payment gateways, fulfillment/3PL partners).
  • Establish and lead enterprise resource management practices to support effective portfolio execution.
  • Maintain a centralized view of resource capacity, demand, and allocation across all strategic initiatives; provide forward-looking capacity forecasts to inform prioritization, sequencing, and trade-off decisions.
  • Partner with functional leaders (Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Data) to align staffing plans with prioritized work.
  • Identify resource constraints and recommend solutions (reallocation, hiring, outsourcing, reprioritization); enable scenario planning to assess the impact of new initiatives on existing commitments and trade-offs.
  • Implement tools and processes to track resource utilization, skill alignment, and availability in real time.
  • Ensure resource plans are directly tied to portfolio outcomes, timelines, and financial targets.
  • Oversee portfolio-level budgeting and forecasting.
  • Track and report on delivery timelines, cost performance, ROI, and business outcomes; establish KPIs and OKRs linked to strategic initiatives.
  • Build a culture of transparency, delivery accountability, and technical/operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing project/program management team; define clear roles, career paths, and development plans.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management aligned to organizational goals.
  • Lead change management efforts to improve adoption of PMO practices.

What they require

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in technology leadership spanning strategy, program management, and digital operations, with 5+ years in a PMO.
  • Proven track record supporting executive leaders, ideally a CTO, and scaling operational capability in high-growth environments.
  • Preferred: Experience in consumer-facing digital products, e-commerce, or subscription-commerce platforms.
  • Fluent in how digital platforms actually ship and get measured — delivery mechanics, instrumentation, engineering culture — and able to translate that across the org.
  • Hands-on fluency with delivery and collaboration tools: Jira, Confluence, Asana, Smartsheet, Monday.com.
  • Comfortable in technical conversations with engineering and SRE teams on architecture trade-offs, incident response, and system performance — without needing to write production code.
  • Systems thinking and decision-making in ambiguous, fast-moving environments; adept at moving between 30,000-foot strategy and 3-foot daily execution.
  • Skilled in cross-functional alignment and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong financial acumen (budgeting, ROI, prioritization) and ability to design scalable governance models.
  • Strong executive presence; strong written and verbal communication, able to synthesize technical and business context for a executive-level audience.
  • Preferred: PMP, PgMP, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Agile certifications (e.g., SAFe, Scrum).
