What you'll do

  • Lead BusPatrol's public policy development, government relations strategies, and pioneering legislative enablement efforts at the state and municipal levels.
  • Design and execute complex political and advocacy strategies, including offensive legislation and defensive 'glitch' bills to protect and expand automated school bus stop-arm enforcement and Speed Zone Safety programs.
  • Manage policy and GR at scale for the enterprise, coordinating internal SMEs and serving as accountable process owner for enterprise decision-making.
  • Supervise internal government relations team and manage external contract lobbyists, outside counsel, and BD consultants to align GR/BD with political strategies.
  • Travel, testify at legislative hearings, speak at industry events, and represent BusPatrol in media and coalition settings.

What they require

  • Minimum of 10+ years of leadership experience with state and local in-government experience followed by advocacy or government relations; state lobbying experience is required.
  • Proven track record of successfully lobbying multi-state legislation on contentious political issues.
  • Experience operating as the #1 leader of a policy or government relations function and managing policy/GR at scale in highly complex political environments.
  • Proven staff management and project management skills, including managing remote teams and contract lobbyists.
  • Preferred: Juris Doctorate (JD) or an advanced degree in public policy, public administration, political science, planning, or a related field.
