What you'll do

  • Provides administrative and clinical support throughout patient review, placement in levels of care and discharge planning
  • Participates in treatment teams and communicates reimbursement details to providers
  • Participates in Patient Care Committee and Utilization Review Staff Committee, providing data and contributing to process improvement
  • Provides staff education to further Utilization Review goals
  • Meets time requirements for review intervals and supplies clinical information to obtain authorization
  • Responds promptly to authorizing entity's requests for further detail
  • Seeks treatment information for use in authorizations
  • Contributes to discharge planning
  • Identifies QI triggers and reports them to Process Improvement/Quality Director, clinicians and UM Manager
  • Assures compliance with Managed Care Behavioral Health standards and documentation requirements
  • Investigates and prepares appeals for insurance companies when denial relates to medical necessity
  • Participates in ongoing UM process improvement and UR Staff Committee goals

What they require

  • Has completed basic professional curricula of a school of nursing and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma/degree OR Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related behavioral health field
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License, or Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC) license, or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • 3 - 4 years of related experience in behavioral health care, part of which may be behavioral health managed care experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data, organize and prioritize work, be detail oriented and synthesize clinical case data into concise summaries
