Must be based in the Northeast US, with strong preference for NYC, Boston, or Philly. Needs broker relationship management, risk analysis, negotiation, and regular travel.

What you'll do

  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts within authority, including the enterprise segment (accounts with ~$1B+ in revenue), while maintaining alignment to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and carrier requirements.
  • Build and deepen relationships with cyber specialists and sophisticated P&C placing brokers, becoming a trusted underwriting partner in the market.
  • Maintain disciplined underwriting files, documentation, and internal tool usage in line with Coalition’s workflows and governance standards.
  • Participate directly in broker and client meetings, with responsibility for external presentation, account strategy, and underwriting rationale.
  • Handle more nuanced coverage, structure, and wording discussions, escalating or partnering with CPU and other leaders as needed on non-standard issues.
  • Partner with Coalition’s security team and other internal stakeholders to bring technical and portfolio insight into underwriting decisions and broker/client discussions.
  • Contribute feedback on underwriting guidelines, tools, and process improvements that help Coalition scale high-quality production underwriting.
  • Regular travel required for broker relationship management, client meetings, broker education, and market development activity.

What they require

  • 3+ years of underwriting or related experience, including meaningful exposure to cyber, technology E&O, or other complex specialty risks for large enterprise business (~$1B+ revenue).
  • Preferred: Additional experience in underwriting miscellaneous professional liability is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze underwriting and pricing risks independently and make sound decisions within authority.
  • Ability to use risk analysis and underwriting guidelines to explain decisions and rationale confidently to brokers and clients.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills in a broker-distributed environment.
  • This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the Northeast with a strong preference for NYC, Boston, or Philly.
  • Regular travel required for broker relationship management, client meetings, broker education, and market development activity.
