Team Leader Engineering (m/f/d)

Your new team:

Do you enjoy leading engineers and shaping architecture without stepping away from hands-on development? At auxmoney, you will lead an autonomous agile team that builds and scales core digital lending solutions. In this role, you take disciplinary leadership for the team and support individual growth through clear feedback, coaching, and development, while staying actively involved in day-to-day engineering work. You will work closely with Product Owners, Business Leads, other Team Leads, and engineering peers to align technical execution with business goals, while keeping a strong focus on quality, scalability, and operational excellence. Knowledge sharing, pragmatic decision-making, and continuous improvement are part of our culture, supported by cross-team collaboration and regular OpenSpace Days.

What you can expect:

• Technical leadership: You lead an autonomous agile team by example, guide technical decision-making, and take ownership of architecture and delivery outcomes.
• Disciplinary leadership: You support engineers in their growth through regular feedback, coaching, and transparent expectations, and you create an environment where the team can do great work.
• Hands-on development: You actively contribute production code, review pull requests, resolve tickets, and support incident handling in day-to-day engineering work.
• Architecture and platform evolution: You design and implement new features and architectural improvements with a focus on scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
• Quality standards: You set clear technical standards and drive testing strategies across unit, integration, load, and end-to-end testing.
• Operational excellence: You strengthen observability and reliability through monitoring, debugging, tracing, and performance analysis, and you help improve incident response.
• Product collaboration: You collaborate closely with Product, QA, and engineering teams to translate goals into robust technical execution and sensible trade-offs.
• Documentation culture: You create, maintain, and review RFCs, ADRs, and API documentation to make decisions transparent and scalable across teams.
• Work setup: You work remotely from anywhere in Germany, with optional office days in Düsseldorf.

Your profile

• Leadership experience: You bring proven experience in a technical leadership role in an agile environment and you know how to guide a team while staying close to the code.
• Mentoring and feedback: You enjoy mentoring engineers, fostering growth, and giving clear and constructive feedback.
• Stakeholder alignment: You are comfortable balancing hands-on technical work with coordination, prioritization, and alignment with stakeholders.
• Backend expertise: You have several years of hands-on backend development experience with OOP languages, and PHP with Symfony plus MySQL is a strong advantage.
• System design: You have strong system design skills and experience building scalable and resilient systems.
• Cloud and distributed systems: You have a solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud-based architectures.
• CI and delivery: You have experience designing, implementing, and improving CI/CD pipelines.
• Observability mindset: You bring a strong background in monitoring and operational excellence and you are confident in debugging, tracing, and performance analysis.
• API craftsmanship: You have deep knowledge of API design and management including versioning, security, and monitoring.
• Language skills: You can speak and write English at a professional level, and German skills are a plus.
• Nice to have: You bring domain knowledge in Credit Risk and Pricing, including data-driven decisioning and scoring.
