The Seasonal Tax Analyst Programmer, Senior is responsible for developing high-quality and accurate tax content and integrating the information into the TaxAct software. The person in this role has a tax background with tax development experience, while having a positive influence on other team members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Major responsibilities of the position are listed below. Research and implement fairly complex Federal and State tax laws into the tax software Write or design “plain talk” interview questions to help users confidently complete their tax return Write and review test case scenarios to ensure the tax calculations implemented are accurate Provides influence and clear communication within the team and also across cross-functional teams/functions/business units Partner closely with the forms developers and IRS/State agencies to ensure we receive timely certifications for forms and e-file Basic understanding of the tax industry and/or suite of TaxAct products Interacts respectively within the team Helps test other team members work for accuracy Mentor for newer tax analysts that join the team Deep customer focus, providing enhancements that will be helpful to the customer experience Other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BS/BA in Business Accounting or equivalent related experience 2+ years working in federal and state taxation, preferably in multiple tax categories: Individual, business, non-profit, estates and trusts, etc. Effective interpersonal skills, which translates into the ability to partner for commitment and action, communication, as well as listening Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Attention to detail and accuracy Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint CPA or EA certification a plus Knowledge or experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment a plus At Taxwell, we believe our work benefits from the diverse perspectives of our employees. What you'll do
- Research and implement fairly complex Federal and State tax laws into the tax software
- Write or design “plain talk” interview questions to help users confidently complete their tax return
- Write and review test case scenarios to ensure the tax calculations implemented are accurate
- Partner closely with the forms developers and IRS/State agencies to ensure we receive timely certifications for forms and e-file
- Mentor newer tax analysts and provide influence and clear communication across cross-functional teams
What they require
- BS/BA in Business Accounting or equivalent related experience
- 2+ years working in federal and state taxation, preferably in multiple tax categories: Individual, business, non-profit, estates and trusts, etc.
- Basic understanding of the tax industry and/or suite of TaxAct products
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and attention to detail
