We're looking for an experienced Talent Acquisition Sourcer to help identify and engage exceptional talent across Tailscale as we continue to scale globally. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone with deep sourcing expertise, technical fluency, and strong talent market knowledge.

What you'll do

  • Lead sourcing strategies for complex, high-priority, and difficult-to-fill searches across technical, GTM, G&A, leadership, and other functions.
  • Translate business needs, role requirements, and talent market dynamics into targeted search strategies and actionable sourcing plans.
  • Identify and engage passive talent through advanced research, diverse sourcing channels, networks, communities, and creative approaches.
  • Independently manage multiple searches and adjust strategies based on pipeline performance, candidate feedback, market conditions, and evolving priorities.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the company's product, technology, business, and culture to identify candidates who can thrive.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition Partners and hiring teams to translate innovative or nuanced profiles into effective talent searches.
  • Research adjacent companies, technologies, open-source ecosystems, communities, and talent pools.
  • Build credibility with technical and specialized talent by understanding their backgrounds, innovations, and the work they use.
  • Use data and market insights to assess pipeline health, identify hiring risks, and improve strategy.
  • Conduct talent mapping and market research on talent availability, competitive landscapes, geographies, and challenges.
  • Surface market constraints early and recommend adjustments to profiles, locations, or approaches.
  • Champion inclusive sourcing by broadening networks and inclusive criteria.
  • Create compelling, personalized outreach for high-level candidates.
  • Build authentic relationships with passive talent and cultivate pipelines.
  • Assess candidate preference, motivation, experience, and alignment.
  • Partner for seamless handoffs and top-tier candidate experiences.
  • Develop sourcing frameworks, talent maps, and reusable research.
  • Collaborate on complex searches and candidate calibration.
  • Facilitate sourcing jams, knowledge sharing, and emerging practices.
  • Improve tools, workflows, and AI-enabled sourcing approaches.

What they require

  • 6+ years of talent sourcing and/or recruiting experience, with significant experience sourcing competitive talent.
  • Demonstrated success across multiple roles, deep technical engineering and product recruitment.
  • Advanced expertise in sourcing, talent research, market mapping, and competitive intelligence.
  • Ability to understand complex or ambiguous roles and translate into sourcing plans.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to partner with multiple senior leaders and challenge assumptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
