What you'll do

  • Bundling purchasing volumes across companies to realize economies of scale
  • Developing group-wide supplier strategies and framework agreements to reduce costs and improve delivery security
  • Creating transparency of purchasing KPIs and processes as a basis for group steering
  • Responsibility for selected strategic product groups (Category Management) across all companies – including components for automation, transformer construction, and building technology (SPS, switchgear, cables, transformers) as well as related services
  • Identifying and leveraging bundling potentials between sister companies
  • Negotiating prices, conditions, and group-wide framework agreements with suppliers
  • Continuously monitoring relevant supplier markets and deriving recommendations for action from price and availability trends
  • Technical cost engineering: Should-Cost analyses and Design-to-Cost approaches for cost reduction through specification adjustments and alternative materials, in close coordination with design and project management
  • Establishing common procurement standards, KPIs, and reporting for the group, and standardizing purchasing processes across the companies' currently fragmented ERP system landscape
  • Close cooperation with operational purchasing managers, as well as with project management, design, and production of the individual companies
  • Sparring partner for management and purchasing managers of the companies on strategic procurement decisions

What they require

  • Commercial or technical education, preferably with further training in purchasing, or a degree in industrial engineering, business administration, supply chain management, or comparable
  • Several years of experience in technical or strategic purchasing, ideally in the field of electrical engineering, switchgear, automation, or plant construction
  • Experience in setting up or managing group- or site-wide purchasing structures is an advantage
  • Technical understanding of the relevant product groups (e.g., function of components, relevance of delivery times for transformers)
  • Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on mentality – confidently switches between operational day-to-day business and conceptual work
  • Negotiation skills and a good feel for people – on an equal footing, not confrontational
  • Strong communication and persuasive skills in dialogue – gains agreement through arguments, not by instruction
  • Collaborative working style: unlocks bundling potentials in dialogue with the companies, rather than dictating them top-down
  • Open, constructive approach to mistakes and setbacks
  • Independent, structured way of working and high self-motivation
