What you'll do

  • Set technical strategy for the frontend surface on a year-long time scale and connect it to critical business-impacting projects.
  • Collaborate across teams in the product development lifecycle with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are understood and managed.
  • Act as a force-multiplier through definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes.
  • Take ownership of operations and availability by ensuring monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place for keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts.
  • Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review and design standards and advocating for them beyond the team through writing and tech talks.
  • Help develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.
  • Coordinate and implement broader product features from Figma or product requirements in high-stakes critical projects.
  • Migrate and modernize web code implementation, design systems, and architecture.
  • Build and/or reuse codemods, AI agent skills, and tools to work efficiently.

What they require

  • 8+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
  • Proficient in working with JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience working across multiple teams and driving horizontal initiatives with demonstrated leadership.
  • Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecating existing functionality through the definition of a technical and execution plan.
  • Writes high quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
  • Thrives in ambiguity and is comfortable moving from low-level language idioms to the architecture of large systems to understand how they work.
  • Growth and impact trajectory demonstrates mastery of gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
