What you'll do

  • Own the integration surface end-to-end by designing and building SDKs, instrumentation libraries, and connectors including Fiddler OTel SDK, LangChain/LangGraph/Strands auto-instrumentation, LiteLLM, OTLP ingestion, and ML-platform connectors such as Databricks and MLflow.
  • Own Fiddler's OpenTelemetry and OTLP strategy, including instrumentation libraries, collectors, exporters, sampling, and the end-to-end tracing path.
  • Engage with the OpenTelemetry/OpenInference ecosystem and contribute back where it strengthens integrations.
  • Build the canonical abstraction layer that maps heterogeneous agent frameworks and OTLP sources onto Fiddler's unified span and metric model.
  • Architect services and microservices that receive, normalize, persist, and expose ML and agentic observability signals from raw trace data at enterprise scale.
  • Ensure strong guarantees around data integrity, ordering, and backpressure in ingestion and processing systems.
  • Design scalable data infrastructure, services, and APIs for high-throughput ingestion, compliance needs, and SLAs.
  • Drive SDK developer experience including ergonomics, backward compatibility, versioning, documentation, and reference examples.
  • Partner with product and customers on discovery for new GenAI and agentic evaluation and metric capabilities.
  • Build new metrics and evaluation capabilities for evolving GenAI and agentic use cases.
  • Define and evolve reliability, latency, SLOs, and observability for the ingestion path.
  • Champion improvements to CI/CD, testing frameworks, error handling, efficiency, and resiliency.
  • Interview and evaluate candidates.
  • Mentor and coach engineers to help grow the engineering team and culture.

What they require

  • Master's or Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 10+ years of industry experience with a demonstrated, solid foundation in software development.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry / OTLP, including instrumentation, collectors, semantic conventions, sampling, and the broader tracing ecosystem.
  • Understanding of telemetry generation and the systems that consume it.
  • Deep proficiency with Python.
  • Strong command of technologies that power high-throughput ingestion, including Kafka, Postgres, and Redis.
  • Ability to design, build, and debug complex, large-scale streaming and storage systems.
  • Proven experience building developer-facing SDKs, client libraries, plugins, or data connectors.
  • Strong instincts for API and contract design across systems you do not fully control.
  • Proven ability to thrive in ambiguity and a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated initiator who takes ownership with high autonomy and fills gaps when the full picture is not available.
  • Strong grasp of distributed systems and ability to troubleshoot production issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and deliver by breaking complex problems into manageable tasks and guiding a small team.
  • Adept at cross-functional collaboration across a geographically distributed team, including product managers, designers, frontend developers, data scientists, customers, and integration partners.
  • Excellent collaborator and mentor who raises the technical bar for the team.
  • Regularly engages in code and design reviews.
  • Preferred: Experience deploying and working with ML/LLM models in production.
  • Preferred: Comfort with modern LLM and agentic frameworks and evaluation frameworks.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with ML platform ecosystems and integration patterns that connect them to observability tooling.
  • Preferred: Contributions to open-source observability or instrumentation projects.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to make an impact by ensuring production-scale AI applications across industries have operational transparency and security.
  • Early-stage startup environment with a rapidly growing team.
  • Major learning opportunities in the fast-moving AI and ML industry.
  • Opportunity to help pave the way in the AI Observability space.

Fiddler AI builds an AI observability platform that helps organizations monitor, evaluate, secure, analyze, and improve AI solutions, including predictive models, LLMs, GenAI, and agentic applications.
