What you'll do

  • Set the technical roadmap for the Reporting team, balancing new reporting capabilities with prioritized tech debt.
  • Architect and own the systems that power report generation, data ingestion, and query performance, working primarily in Python, Django, and ClickHouse.
  • Drive technical design discussions and decisions, working with engineers and stakeholders to land on the right architecture and trade-offs.
  • Evaluate the team's most pressing production and quality issues, diagnose root causes, and drive down their recurrence.
  • Improve our data pipeline and reporting architecture so the team can build more reports, over more data, faster.
  • Maintain our admin portal and reports portal, and build new report dashboards, working confidently on the frontend when needed.
  • Collaborate with product managers, customers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate reporting needs into technical solutions.
  • Mentor senior engineers and help raise the technical bar across the team.

What they require

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated impact at a staff/architect level.
  • Deep expertise in Clickhouse, Python, and Django.
  • Experience designing and scaling data-intensive systems (reporting, analytics, or BI platforms), including data pipelines, query performance, and large dataset handling.
  • Proven track record leading technical architecture decisions and driving technical design discussions across teams.
  • Experience in diagnosing systemic production issues and building durable fixes that reduce recurrence, not just patch symptoms.
  • Comfortable working across the stack, including frontend changes to admin and reporting portals.
  • You think critically about your work and ask questions to improve the product, not only its technical implementation but also how well it serves users' needs.
  • Strong communication skills and are able to explain complex technical topics to the entire team in a clear and concise way.
  • When things inevitably break, you eagerly jump in to diagnose and fix the core issues.
  • Preferred: Experience working in an early-stage startup is a huge plus.
