What you'll do

Design, write, and ship critical custody platform components such as policy engine, signing orchestration, key lifecycle workflows, recovery flows, approvals, audit trails, and wallet/account services.
Lead cross-cutting initiatives through RFCs, design reviews, and code.
Build high-load, multi-tenant SaaS systems with tenant isolation, quotas, rate limits, backpressure, concurrency control, and predictable latency.
Implement distributed systems and reliability patterns including idempotency, retries, outbox/inbox, event-driven workflows, sagas, state machines, replay, and graceful degradation.
Design security-by-default systems with least privilege, secret handling, mTLS/JWT, tamper-evident logs, and audit-ready data models.
Work on performance and data topics including profiling, load testing, benchmarking, contention analysis, GC tuning, relational modelling, migrations, indexing, and consistency boundaries.
Use AI-assisted development with Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex, and contribute to company AI engineering practices.
Set patterns and shared libraries for services in the role's area.
Own features end-to-end from design notes and RFCs to code, tests, observability, rollout, and on-call.
Mentor senior engineers through code reviews and written designs.

10+ years of backend development experience
3+ years at Staff Engineer level
Experience owning large production systems
Production experience with Go
Experience building high-load SaaS systems
Knowledge of distributed systems
Experience in custody, wallets, MPC, HSM, Ledger, or blockchain
Strong CS fundamentals with ability to reason about concurrency, distributed systems, consistency models, networking, and OS behaviour.
Ownership of non-trivial production systems end-to-end including design, shipping, measurement, improvement, and on-call.
10+ years backend engineering experience, including 3+ years operating at Staff level or equivalent senior IC scope.
Strong production experience in a modern systems language such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, or comparable.
Hands-on Go experience or genuine readiness to ramp on Go in the first month.
Track record of Staff-level technical leadership through code, RFCs, and influence without formal authority over teams.
Proven track record building high-load, multi-tenant SaaS in production, including HA, incident response, and SLOs.
Hands-on experience with modern backend stacks.
Strong testing discipline and testability-first design.
Strong observability habits and end-to-end production debugging.
Production-grade use of modern AI coding tools and ability to critically review AI-generated code.
Clear written communication through design notes, RFCs, incident write-ups, and trade-offs.
Pragmatic technical leadership and mentorship.
Comfortable with ambiguity and aligning technical decisions with product and risk.
