What you'll do

  • Apply strong product sense to set direction, shape standards, and elevate execution.
  • Build and maintain Jane's customer data infrastructure end-to-end, including systems, pipelines, and source integrations that carry product and marketing events from collection to warehouse.
  • Bring consistency and reliability to multiple independently configured sources with different conventions.
  • Work directly with marketing, paid media, analytics, marketing operations, BI, and product as primary stakeholders on attribution questions, campaign tracking, conversion data, and integrations connecting marketing tools to the warehouse.
  • Build trust across cross-functional teams.
  • Drive tooling strategy for Jane's collection layer, including CDP, event pipeline, and ingestion infrastructure.
  • Help determine the long-term stack while keeping current systems running.
  • Establish instrumentation standards within engineering, product, and marketing.
  • Define how product and web events are structured, named, versioned, and validated.
  • Ensure clean handoffs, shared standards, and alignment on what good data looks like at Jane.
  • Own identity resolution and attribution at the collection layer.
  • Design customer journey stitching across multiple channels, domains, and touchpoints so funnel data is trustworthy.
  • Navigate consent-gated instrumentation in a healthcare environment.
  • Design instrumentation that works reliably with PHI compliance requirements, consent management, tag management, and third-party marketing tools.
  • Assess existing customer data infrastructure, help define future direction, and build systems and standards.
  • Evaluate current tooling and define the data collection strategy.

What they require

  • University degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field plus hands-on experience as a data engineer or similar.
  • Experience operating at a staff level or higher.
  • Built and maintained event collection, customer data infrastructure, or data pipeline systems in production.
  • Experience inheriting and rationalizing independently built pipelines, not just building from scratch.
  • Comfortable leading and owning both strategy and execution.
  • Able to make architectural calls and be the person other teams and leadership look to for direction in this domain.
  • Able to set standards that teams actually follow.
  • Able to influence and drive strategy clearly across engineering, product, BI, marketing, and leadership.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing Customer Data Platforms, including migrating or consolidating existing tooling.
  • Greenfield-only experience is not sufficient for this role.
  • Experience with privacy-compliant tracking and consent management.
  • Experience working with consent management platforms.
  • Understanding of how consent state affects data collection.
  • Experience designing instrumentation that holds up within consent constraints.
  • Preferred: Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments.
  • Strong opinions on schema design, event taxonomy, and data quality.
  • Experience with identity resolution, attribution, or cross-domain tracking.
  • Understanding of the complexities of stitching a user journey across systems.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and SQL.
  • Comfort working with AI tools as part of day-to-day workflow.
  • Adaptability, resilience, learning agility, and humility.
