What you'll do

  • Lead development of advanced algorithms supporting next-generation sensing technologies.
  • Develop physics-based, mechanistic, and data-driven models to characterize sensor behavior and improve measurement performance.
  • Design and implement signal processing, estimation, calibration, detection, and predictive algorithms.
  • Apply statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analytics techniques to extract insights from bench, pre-clinical, clinical, and real-world datasets.
  • Drive technical feasibility assessments and algorithm maturation in collaboration with systems, hardware, firmware, clinical, and product teams.
  • Evaluate algorithm performance through simulation, modeling, and experimental analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership on algorithm architecture, design tradeoffs, verification strategies, and implementation approaches.
  • Partner with hardware and firmware teams to optimize overall system performance and resource utilization.
  • Translate early technology concepts into scalable, robust solutions suitable for future product integration.
  • Present technical findings, recommendations, and strategic direction to cross-functional leadership teams.

What they require

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Biophysics, Statistics, or related field with 2-4 years of industry experience; or MS with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar technical computing environments.
  • Deep expertise in statistical estimation, signal processing, optimization, and mathematical modeling.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and practical model development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing algorithms for sensing, measurement systems, medical devices, or related disciplines.
  • Experience analyzing large, complex datasets containing multiple signals and dependencies.
  • Proven ability to independently drive technical programs, from concept through implementation.
  • Strong systems-thinking skills with the ability to understand interactions across hardware, firmware, algorithms, and user experience.
  • Experience balancing innovation, technical risk reduction, development timelines, and implementation constraints.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced technical environments.
  • Preferred: Experience with biosensors, physiological sensing, wearable systems, or analytical instrumentation.
  • Preferred: Experience with calibration, estimation, filtering, or measurement-system algorithms.
  • Preferred: Experience transitioning algorithms from research into commercial products.
  • Preferred: Experience within regulated industries such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, or automotive.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of design controls, verification/validation processes, and product development lifecycles.
  • Preferred: Publication, patent, or demonstrated innovation record.
