Staff accountant with 3+ years of accounting experience, strong AP/AR, billing, reconciliations, month-end close, and high-volume transaction experience. Must have strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and be able to work independently in a remote environment on 9am–6pm PST hours. Sales commissions, variable compensation, US companies or US GAAP, and tools like QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Gusto, Bill.com, Ramp, Brex, or Stripe are preferred.

What you'll do

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and well-documented financial records across Curvion Blue's operations.
  • Own or support accounts payable workflows.
  • Own or support accounts receivable workflows.
  • Own or support billing and invoicing workflows.
  • Own or support revenue reconciliation.
  • Own or support sales commission workflows.
  • Own or support payroll and commission schedules.
  • Own or support credit card and expense workflows.
  • Own or support cash and banking workflows.
  • Own or support account reconciliations.

  • Support financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate AP records and trackers as invoices are received.
  • Review invoices for accuracy, coding, approvals, and appropriate documentation.
  • Process electronic payments and checks according to established approval procedures.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records and contact information.
  • Collect and maintain current W-9s and applicable vendor documentation.
  • Validate vendor banking information before electronic payments are initiated.
  • Monitor outstanding payables and ensure payments are processed on schedule.
  • Identify unusual, duplicate, or potentially fraudulent transactions and escalate appropriately.
  • Create and distribute invoices according to established billing schedules and agreements.
  • Reconcile customer payments against invoices and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate customer and company records.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and support collection efforts.
  • Investigate payment discrepancies, unapplied cash, short payments, and billing variances.
  • Reconcile amounts billed and collected against applicable contracts, SOWs, agreements, or other supporting documentation.
  • Identify billing issues before they become larger collection or revenue problems.
  • Support accurate revenue reporting across multiple companies and revenue streams.
  • Prepare and maintain commission schedules across multiple companies, brands, offers, and compensation structures.
  • Calculate commissions accurately based on applicable agreements, sales activity, payment status, and other compensation requirements.
  • Reconcile commission calculations against source data and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate discrepancies between sales activity, revenue collected, and commissions owed.
  • Maintain accurate records of commission calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare commission schedules for review and approval.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders when commission information is incomplete or inconsistent.
  • Identify recurring commission issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Prepare payroll and commission schedules for review and approval.
  • Process approved payroll accurately and according to established deadlines.
  • Reconcile payroll activity against accounting records.
  • Review variable compensation calculations and supporting documentation for accuracy.
  • Investigate payroll and compensation discrepancies and escalate unresolved issues promptly.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for payroll and compensation transactions.
  • Enter and categorize credit card transactions accurately.
  • Collect and maintain receipts and supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile credit card activity to monthly statements.
  • Identify missing receipts, unusual transactions, duplicate charges, or coding discrepancies.
  • Ensure credit card payments are processed by their due dates.
  • Reconcile employee reimbursements against supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile bank transactions to accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Investigate banking discrepancies and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
  • Monitor cash activity and identify unusual or unexpected transactions.
  • Maintain accurate cash flow reporting and forecasts.
  • Reconcile intercompany activity where applicable.
  • Ensure bank and cash balances are properly reflected in the financial records.
  • Own assigned components of the month-end close process and meet established deadlines.
  • Perform initial P&L reviews and identify unusual fluctuations or inconsistencies.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts to source documents and subledgers.
  • Review financial activity for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare draft financial reporting packages and supporting schedules.
  • Review financial results against contracts, invoices, payroll, commissions, and other source documentation.
  • Roll forward recurring schedules and maintain accurate month-end workbooks.
  • Support quarterly and annual accounting requirements, including sales tax and year-end reporting.
  • Document changes to processes and accounting procedures.
  • Review transactional data for irregularities, unusual activity, and inconsistencies.
  • Investigate discrepancies rather than simply correcting the symptom.
  • Maintain clean and complete supporting documentation.
  • Protect confidential financial, payroll, employee, and company information.
  • Safeguard accounting system access and credentials.
  • Monitor for potential fraud and escalate concerns immediately.
  • Maintain clear audit trails and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and reduce errors.
  • Research accounting questions and applicable rules when necessary.
  • Recommend improvements to accounting processes, systems, and controls.
  • Communicate accounting issues promptly rather than allowing them to linger.
  • Respond to internal communications within one business day, even when the final answer is still pending.
  • Clearly communicate competing priorities, blockers, and deadlines.
  • Keep the Accounting Manager and Controller informed of material discrepancies or unusual activity.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities from beginning to end.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding information required to complete accounting responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality around financial, payroll, employee, and company information.
  • Work effectively in a remote environment with high levels of autonomy.
  • Maintain accurate records, calendars, task lists, and deadlines.
  • Escalate issues when appropriate while making a reasonable effort to investigate and resolve them independently first.
