What you'll do

  • Perform data science or analytics assignments, investigations, and visualization tasks.
  • Deliver results according to Oshkosh and industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Support Sr. data analyst/scientist in preparation of analytics work, plans, designs, data processing and visualization, and/or reporting.
  • Work on projects of high level of complexity under close supervision.
  • Collaborate with data science team, data engineering, software, internal engineering groups and external component suppliers.
  • Establish and execute data analytics strategy regarding telematics, cloud hosting, data file system and preprocessing.
  • Work on advanced diagnostics and prognostics and support validation and verification of preventive maintenance strategy using statistics and ML.
  • Conduct independent research on new technologies in cloud-based data analytics and establish project requirements and roadmap.
  • Conduct data processing and analytics on Hadoop Distributed File Systems for different vehicle platforms.
  • Manipulate high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources to highlight patterns, anomalies, relationships and trends.
  • Support or lead development of intelligent control of on- or off-road vehicles or machineries using data analytics techniques.
  • Assist or direct feasibility studies and project estimates (manpower, budget development, timelines).
  • Support or direct proposal development for acquiring funding from government agencies.
  • Provide insight to service or engineering design teams and support maintenance enhancement and product design improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What they require

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science or related field with five (5) or more years of related experience.
  • Standout: Bachelor's + 8+ years experience OR Master’s + 5+ years OR Ph.D. with 2 years related experience.
  • Work experience in statistics, artificial intelligence, data analytics or machine learning.
  • Work knowledge of telematics interfaces, data file systems (Hadoop) and data processing techniques (Kafka, Impala, Map Reduce, etc.).
  • Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL), data modeling and data virtualization tools in Python, R or Java/C/C++.
  • May require U.S. Person status for positions accessing controlled goods/technologies (ITAR/EAR).
