The Role
Solution Architect – North America
We are seeking a highly organized, customer-focused Solution Architect to join our North America team.
This role is ideal for a strong mid-level or emerging Solution Architect who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, customers, and delivery. You will play a key role in delivering complex Automated Fare Collection (AFC) and mobility modernization solutions, partnering with transit agencies, engineering and product teams, system integrators, subcontractors, and other technology partners.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical and systems thinking with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. You will help translate customer and project requirements into well-defined solution designs, lead technical discussions and workshops, define system interfaces and integrations, and support solutions from the bid and initial design through implementation, certification, and production.
What You'll Do
Solution Architecture & Design
Lead solution design activities in collaboration with Principal Engineers, Engineering teams, Product Development, and third-party partners. Translate business, customer, and technical requirements into clear, implementable solution designs. Lead technical design workshops with customers, internal teams, system integrators, and external vendors. Define and document system interfaces, integration patterns, data flows, and technical dependencies. Develop architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and other technical documentation required by internal and external development teams. Facilitate technical reviews and obtain stakeholder agreement and sign-off on solution designs and interface specifications. Ensure proposed solutions align with the organization's product capabilities, engineering standards, customer requirements, and overall solution architecture.
Implementation & Integration
Work closely with Engineering, Product Development, Operations, development partners, subcontractors, customer vendors, and system integrators throughout implementation. Ensure implementations remain consistent with the approved architecture and technical specifications. Support integration activities across internal and external systems and teams. Identify technical dependencies, integration risks, and design issues early and work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve them. Support solutions through integration, testing, certification, deployment, and transition into production. Provide architectural guidance when implementation challenges require clarification or refinement of the approved design.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Act as a key technical point of contact for customers and external partners throughout the delivery lifecycle. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Build effective working relationships with transit agencies, technology partners, system integrators, and customer vendors. Manage stakeholder expectations around solution capabilities, interfaces, dependencies, technical constraints, and delivery outcomes. Facilitate productive technical discussions and help drive stakeholders toward clear decisions and agreed outcomes. Support existing Vix and Kuba customers with solution changes, enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and technical impact assessments where required.
Project Delivery
Partner closely with Program and Project Management throughout the delivery lifecycle. Provide regular technical progress, dependency, risk, and issue updates to Project Managers. Support project planning by identifying architectural activities, technical dependencies, integration milestones, and delivery risks. Work across multiple technical and organizational teams to help ensure solutions are delivered successfully and meet agreed requirements.
Pre-Sales & Business Development
Work with Bid Management, Engineering, Product, Operations, and partners to develop technical solutions for new opportunities. Support customer discovery, proposal development, presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions during the pursuit lifecycle. Engage with prospective customers, consultants, and technology partners to understand market requirements and support the positioning of Vix / Kuba solutions.
About the Role
This position is based in North America and will support current and future Vix and Kuba customers across the region.
Some travel may be required to customer sites, Vix and Kuba offices, system integrators, third-party partners, and other project locations.
You will have the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact mobility programs and help shape the technical solutions that enable millions of passengers to access and pay for public transportation.
If you are a collaborative Solution Architect who enjoys solving complex integration challenges, working directly with customers, and taking solutions from design through production, we'd love to hear from you.
Requirements
