  • Build products that help developers and agents take action on code at scale across large codebases.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Customer Engineering, and adjacent engineering teams to turn customer pain into shipped product.
  • Build relationships across the team and learn Batch Changes, Agentic Batch Changes, Code Monitors, Code Insights, and src CLI as both a user and an agent would.
  • Form a point of view on the most important product and technical bets to make next.
  • Meet cross-functional partners in Product, Design, Solutions Engineering, and adjacent engineering teams.
  • Start translating customer feedback into a concrete view of what the team should ship.
  • Join the team's on-call support rotation.
  • Own a meaningful slice of Agentic Batch Changes end-to-end and ship critical pieces yourself.

  • Strengthen team practices for design, review, testing, and delivery.
  • Mentor teammates and build high-trust relationships.
  • Become the recognized technical visionary for Code Plane on architecture, quality, and product trade-offs.
  • Deeply understand what customers and agent ecosystems need from Code Plane and where Sourcegraph should invest next.
  • Set the direction of the team's roadmap with evidence-backed conviction and mobilize engineers to execute on it.

What they require

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to provide technical guidance on architecture, code quality, and trade-offs.
  • Proven experience on teams that build end-user product features, ideally developer tools, agent/AI products, CLIs, or other technical product surfaces.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product and Design to take features from idea to shipped and incorporating customer feedback into the roadmap.
  • Customer-facing experience such as discovery calls, design partnerships, and incorporating feedback loops into a roadmap.
  • Experience shipping products consumed by or built for AI agents, such as MCP servers, agent SDKs, agentic dev tooling, or agent-friendly CLIs.
  • Hands-on experience using and reasoning about coding agents such as Amp, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar, with strong opinions about human-agent workflows.
  • Async-first communication skills and experience working in a globally distributed remote team.
  • Must overlap working hours with CEST for at least 20 hours/week.
  • Must have a strong handle on and opinion of AI formed from real-world, hands-on use.
  • Must be a technical leader and software engineer whom people want to follow.
  • Must set technical direction, make architecture and tradeoff calls, and keep the team unblocked and moving.
  • Must think in terms of customers and outcomes, not tickets.
  • Must be able to translate fuzzy product input into a clear roadmap, scope with Product and Design, and make calls about what to cut so the team can ship.
  • Must tackle hard technical problems hands-on while guiding the team to grow.
  • Must have a point of view on coding agents and be excited to ship for that ecosystem.
  • Must contribute to a collaborative, respectful, async-first culture.
  • Must communicate thoughtfully and proactively, keep stakeholders informed, push back when needed, and change your mind when someone has a better idea.
  • Preferred: Experience with developer tools, code intelligence, code search, or large-scale code transformation/refactoring products.
  • Preferred: Experience with monitoring, alerting, or signals-over-code products such as security scanners, lint platforms, or code-quality tools.
  • Preferred: Experience designing and shipping CLIs that are pleasant for both humans and agents to use.
  • Preferred: Experience as a Team or Tech Lead on a software engineering team.
