**Position:** Software Engineer, Expert Contributor **Location:** Remote (work from anywhere) **Job Type:** Contract / Part-time **Compensation:** $75 per approved task (most take \~1 hour)
**About the role:**
AfterQuery is a San Francisco-based AI research company (YC W25). We build expert training data and evaluations for frontier AI labs, and our work has been used to benchmark and improve some of the most advanced models in the world.
We're expanding our expert contributor network and looking for software engineers to work on paid, SWE-bench-style coding tasks, realistic engineering problems like writing maintainer-style issues, building test suites, and authoring reference solutions on real codebases.
Completely flexible: no meetings, no set schedule, work at any time of day, and take on as many or as few tasks as you want. Great fit as a side gig alongside a full-time job or school.
**Ideal background:** solid programming fundamentals, experience working in real codebases, and care for clean, well-tested code.
