No BS summary

We're hiring our first-ever Social Media Lead to build Spellbook's social presence from the ground up — voice, calendar, and strategy. You'll have full ownership of the function from day one, working closely with Marketing and our executive team to turn what we're building and shipping into stories worth sharing. This is a rare opportunity to shape a brand's entire social identity from scratch, rather than inherit someone else's playbook.

What you'll do

  • Own Spellbook's social media calendar end-to-end across every platform we show up on, from ideation through scheduling and publishing.
  • Balance a steady drumbeat of day-to-day content with a longer-term content strategy tied to company milestones, product launches, and pipeline goals.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, mentions, and DMs in a timely, on-brand way — social is a two-way conversation, not just a broadcast channel.
  • Build relationships with the legal tech community, customers, and relevant creators/journalists who help amplify our reach.
  • Define and protect Spellbook's voice and visual identity across every social channel, keeping it consistent with the broader brand.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, and our executive team to turn company news, product launches, and thought leadership into content that actually gets shared, including ghostwriting and editorial support for executive posts.
  • Build a social strategy grounded in what actually drives reach and engagement — spotting and moving fast on trends, cultural moments, and platform mechanics rather than posting on autopilot.
  • Track performance against clear metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth, share of voice) and use that data to keep improving the strategy.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

What they require

  • You have a track record of growing a brand's organic social reach and engagement, and you can point to specific numbers and outcomes, not just activity.
  • You have run social media for a B2B SaaS company and understand how to make technical, less-visual products feel compelling on social.
  • You can own a social calendar entirely on your own — from quarterly strategy down to writing the caption and hitting publish.
  • You think like a strategist and execute like an operator; you're equally comfortable planning a quarter of content and turning around a timely post the same day.
  • You have a sharp, provable sense for what makes content spread, not just what looks nice.
  • You are a strong writer who adapts tone across platforms while keeping a consistent brand voice.
  • You're comfortable with social management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or native platform analytics) and can turn that data into a clear read on what's working.
  • Experience in legal tech or another compliance-heavy, trust-driven B2B industry.
  • Experience building a social function from scratch as the first social hire, rather than joining an established team.
  • You've built real reach on a personal or side social account of your own — for us, a side project that shows you can experiment, iterate, and grow an audience organically carries just as much weight as professional experience.
