What you'll do

  • Source and find user-generated content and obtain usage permission from owners.
  • Pitch daily weather-related content ideas for social media posts.
  • Coordinate multiple sources, feeds, and personnel contributing to AccuWeather social channels.
  • Monitor all social networks for testimonials, questions, comments, and user-generated content.
  • Engage with users and interact with appropriate internal departments for resolution.
  • Analyze data about AccuWeather and its competitors using internal and external social media analytics tools.
  • Research changes to new and existing social networks via industry blogs, news, and online webinars.
  • Create trend reports on the most-talked-about weather-related topics and culturally relevant conversations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What they require

  • Pursuing a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, or a related field that requires experience in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
  • Basic image editing knowledge.
  • Must be able to develop an understanding of basic scientific and meteorological concepts in order to explain them to the audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, team-oriented, and work well under pressure.
  • Must have excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Morning and daytime availability is preferred, though some evening hours may be accommodated.
