What you'll do

  • Partner closely with Account Executives on public sector and defence opportunities, joining discovery conversations, territory planning, shaping solution direction, and helping move deals forward through the funnel.
  • Act as a senior technical lead within a pool of SEs supporting the Public Sector, Defence and Defence Industrial Base business, providing mentorship and technical direction to less experienced colleagues.
  • Translate customer requirements, including those with specific government and defence security, accreditation, and compliance considerations, into clear technical architectures, proposals, sizing, quotes, and solution concepts that build confidence and accelerate decision making.
  • Run technical presentations, demos, workshops, and follow-up sessions for government departments, defence customers, and defence industrial base primes and SMEs, both remotely and on-site across the UK and Ireland.
  • Enable and coach channel partner SEs through workshops, bootcamps, and joint customer engagement so partners can better position and scale solutions across the public sector and defence market.
  • Validate technical fit for opportunities, including storage architecture, protocols, virtualisation environments, and broader infrastructure considerations, with attention to the security and resilience requirements common in government and defence environments.
  • Collaborate across Systems Engineering, Sales, Partners, Support, Product, and other internal teams to solve customer challenges and deliver a strong buying experience for public sector and defence stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal training, pipeline reviews, technical enablement, and ongoing knowledge sharing across the team, including sharing domain expertise on public sector and defence procurement and requirements.

What they require

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in pre-sales, systems engineering, solution architecture, or a similar customer facing technical role in the technology industry, ideally including experience with public sector, defence, or defence industrial base customers.
  • Strong grounding in storage and infrastructure fundamentals; storage experience is strongly preferred, and post-sales experience can also be relevant if paired with customer facing commercial capability.
  • Good understanding of block, file, and object storage, along with related technologies such as FC, iSCSI, NAS, SAN, virtualisation, and VMware-style environments.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with UK government and defence procurement frameworks, security classifications, and accreditation processes is highly valuable.
  • Ability to lead consultative technical discovery and engage confidently with senior customers, prospects, and partners across government, defence, and industry in both business and technical conversations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly and credibly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior government and defence stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, curious, and proactive working style, with a willingness to learn quickly, excellent technical discovery and qualification skills, and the confidence to ask questions when needed.
  • Preferred: Experience working with or through channel partners and defence industrial base primes and SMEs is highly valuable, as partner enablement is a significant part of the role.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Completed enhanced UK Government security vetting required.
  • This role can be based remotely anywhere in the UK.
  • Regular travel across the UK to be on-site with customers and partners should be expected as a core part of the role.
