This role works with the largest and most complex Construction risks to deliver Primary Casualty (WC, GL, Auto) for annual practice and wrap-up programs to these highly valued customers and prospects. This specific role will focus on our Large Construction portfolio, which serves many of the largest contractors in the U.S.

What you'll do

  • Provides expert technical underwriting assistance and formal referral approval for multiple lines of business (auto, general liability, workers' compensation, and lead/excess) in Large Construction.
  • Interacts independently with field underwriters and directly with UW managers on all mandatory referral cases and voluntary consultation items.
  • Ensures continuity and alignment between Primary Casualty and Excess (as applicable) placements.
  • Supports leadership on transactions and serves as a trusted advisor on exposure, coverage analysis, and key pricing/financial elements within their authority.
  • Monitors frameworks for underwriting decisions and recommends improvements, as needed.
  • Evaluates portfolio performance regularly in Large Construction, working to identify drivers of performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Drives underwriting technical excellence across Large Construction, working to identify and resolve issues.
  • Works with underwriting leaders to identify product and service enhancements and underwriter capability development opportunities and coordinates improvements.
  • Model effective collaboration within/across teams, stakeholders and partners (e.g., UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, NA Product Teams).

What they require

  • Expert-level knowledge of all aspects of coverage forms, exclusions, and exposure.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience operating within several different industry segments - construction programs key.
  • Knowledge of insurance operations; claims, finance and actuarial concepts; regulatory environment; risk control; reinsurance; account management; product development; and industry trends.
  • Must be a skilled collaborator who is willing to assess all sides of an issue, bring in others with expertise, and independently execute and advance the collaboration model.
  • Superior communication, approachability, tact, coaching/development, analytical and problem solving, relationship and service driven, clear solutions orientation, negotiation skills, demonstrated ability to positively influence others both internally and externally.
  • As normally acquired through a related bachelor's degree, 10 or more years of relevant experience that includes underwriting, claims, reinsurance, coaching/developing others, working with brokers/agents and active with market trends.
