What you'll do

  • Own integrations end to end: design, code, and the production system after launch.
  • Set technical defaults for a growing team.
  • Own architecture for auth and identity flows, multi-tenancy, data movement, data residency, performance, and production behavior.
  • Run what you build, including on-call ownership from early on.
  • Own infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability for your work.
  • Work on top of external platforms you cannot change and distinguish risks you manage from risks you do not.
  • Partner with internal teams whose services you depend on by asking clearly, agreeing on interfaces, and keeping work moving.
  • Form opinions about the team's technical direction and document them.

What they require

  • 5+ years building software, with significant experience on data-heavy or integration-flavored systems.
  • Solid backend and systems instincts.
  • Ability to reason about deployment topology, multi-tenancy, and data movement.
  • Comfort owning architectural tradeoffs you will have to live with later.
  • Experience with modern auth protocols, service principals, and identity federation across a trust boundary.
  • Experience building on someone else's platform, including incomplete documentation and unintended breaking changes.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, shipping before the spec is finished, making sensible calls under uncertainty, and flagging hard-to-undo decisions.
  • Good collaboration with other engineers and ability to earn trust through technical thinking.
  • Mainly a backend engineer, but comfortable enough in JavaScript / TypeScript to jump in when useful.
  • Uses AI tools well and honestly, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, and is clear about where they were and were not used.
  • Writes well for design docs, PRs, and RFCs.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with a major cloud data or analytics platform ecosystem.
  • Preferred: Real depth in auth and identity federation, or experience shipping through a partner marketplace or certification process.
  • Preferred: Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms, or the isolation and deployment topology behind them.
