What you'll do

  • design, implement, and maintain scientific software for drug discovery (docking, FEP, molecular dynamics, cheminformatics)
  • Build and evolve the Deep Origin Python SDK and scientific APIs
  • Develop and maintain Julia-based simulation and analysis packages for molecular systems
  • Authorize and operate workflow definitions (Argo Workflows) and serverless scientific services (Knative)
  • Package scientific tools as reproducible, containerized functions with clear input/output contracts and integration tests
  • Translate domain requirements from medicinal chemistry and computational biology into scalable technical implementations
  • Collaborate with platform engineering, product, and science teams on the multi-tenant cloud platform
  • Ensure scientific code quality through testing, documentation, benchmarking, and edge-case handling
  • Debug across full stack — from numerical methods to production workflow failures
  • Contribute to engineering best practices, mentor teammates

What they require

  • MSc or PhD in chemistry, chemical biology, bioinformatics, computational chemistry, or closely related field — or equivalent industry experience
  • Deep domain knowledge in medicinal chemistry, cheminformatics, structural biology, molecular simulation, or computational drug discovery
  • Excellent production-grade Python — libraries and APIs; authored an installable package (PyPI a plus)
  • Modern packaging/environments (uv, conda, or pixi); linting and type checking (ruff, ty)
  • Use Marimo or similar reactive/reproducible notebook tools
  • Strong Docker — containerizing scientific Python code for production: multi-stage Dockerfiles, image-size trimming
  • Experience implementing scientific algorithms/workflows end-to-end, prototype to deployed
  • Fluent use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor)
  • Strong fundamentals — testing, version control, debugging, clean interfaces for scientific data
  • Ability to read scientific literature and translate methods into implementations
  • US work authorization required — no sponsorship

Benefits

  • Shape the future of health, longevity, and simulating life
  • Competitive compensation package with meaningful equity
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Annual team gatherings and company events
  • Free lunch, snacks, beverages, and onsite gym access (for in-office employees)
