What you'll do

  • Partner directly with Account Executives to drive technical strategy across the full sales cycle from discovery through solution design to close.
  • Scope integrations, answer hard architecture questions, and build demo and proof-of-concept work that moves deals forward.
  • Independently configure and debug the systems you work in and catch errors before they become someone else's problem.
  • Hold your own with a credit union's CTO on integration complexity.
  • Within 1 months, have a full understanding of the problems solved with the technology and assign solutions/features to specific client pains.
  • Within 1 months, autonomously configure demo instances for consumer lending and consumer deposits and master the associated product demo talk tracks.
  • Within 1 months, demonstrate a solid foundation of the ecosystem partners Clutch touches and have familiarity with competitor solutions.
  • Within 1 months, build foundational fluency with ecosystem partners, competitive landscape, and day-to-day tools (Claude, Demostack, GitHub).
  • Within 3 months, run at least 1 full sales cycle in a leading role, including solution design for consumer deposits and/or lending.
  • Within 3 months, be the default point of technical escalation for at least one class of complex deals, such as integration-heavy or compliance-sensitive opportunities.
  • Within 3 months, articulate a solid understanding of solutions, integration paradigms, ecosystem partners, and product roadmap.
  • Within 3 months, demonstrate proficiency with day-to-day tools through artifacts contributed to team and company libraries.
  • Within 3 months, solidify deep interpersonal relationships with cross-functional partners including product, engineering, design, compliance, implementations, enablement, and customer success.
  • Within 3 months, work semi-autonomously with limited oversight from management.
  • Within 6 months, be seen as a product expert across all Clutch solutions, including consumer deposits, consumer lending, business deposits, loan automation, and ancillary offerings.
  • Within 6 months, introduce an AI-enabled workflow adopted by the full SE team and show a specific measurable efficiency gain for the team's output.
  • Within 6 months, build and own the SE team's Technical Discovery & Qualification Framework for assessing integration complexity, compliance risk, and technical fit.
  • Within 6 months, work in a mostly autonomous fashion without support from management while managing up appropriately.
  • Within 6 months, be considered an SME for products sold by Clutch, system architecture, integration paradigms, system configurations, and internal tooling.
  • Within 6 months, be the named point of technical escalation for integration-heavy and compliance-sensitive deals.

What they require

  • Experience: 5+ years working as a sales engineer, solutions engineer, or technical consultant, preferably in fintech or for a high-growth startup.
  • Sales Acumen: Proven experience in a technical sales or sales engineering role, preferably within the fintech or SaaS industry.
  • Preferred: Previous training/certifications from Sandler or MEDDIC/MEDDPICC a plus.
  • Technical fluency, not coding: understanding what's happening under the hood well enough to configure, troubleshoot, and catch issues independently.
  • AI Fluency: Solid understanding of AI and the ability to leverage it effectively and accurately.
  • Preferred: Experience with Demostack, inclusive of building tours and clones with unique structures, is a plus.
  • Strong technical foundation across the relevant product/systems domain, with enough depth to be a real escalation point.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Sense of Urgency: Operates with a strong sense of urgency, making sound, well-reasoned decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
  • Strong Judgement: Judgment to identify which technical/process gaps are worth fixing at the team level versus which are one-off.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand complex customer requirements and propose effective solutions.
  • Customer Focus: Dedication to understanding and addressing customer needs with a customer-first mindset.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment where priorities and tasks can change rapidly.
  • Travel: The ability to travel (both domestically and internationally) up to 50% of the time with little notice.
  • Preferred: Deep knowledge of one or more of the following: real-time core banking systems, online banking platforms, deposit account origination systems, risk, fraud and compliance tools, and modern consumer loan origination systems.
  • Preferred: Prior banking experience, such as retail branch, branch operations or systems support, inclusive of working for a vendor/partner.
