Senior finance operations/reconciliation specialist with 5+ years in high-volume fintech transaction reconciliation. Must be UK-based and able to lead day-to-day reconciliation operations, investigations, audits, partner reporting, and junior staff coaching.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end quality assurance across all transaction reconciliations, including bank accounts, P2P, merchant and credit card reconciliations.
  • Step into the Reconciliations Manager's responsibilities when cover is needed.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve account discrepancies, including double charges, incorrect amounts, booking failures and unsettled transactions.
  • Lead the team's SLA performance on customer disputes and internal escalations.
  • Ensure every customer dispute and escalation case is resolved and documented to audit standard.
  • Drive process improvements across reconciliation procedures.
  • Use AI-assisted tooling where it saves time.
  • Implement best practices that reduce manual effort and error rates.
  • Manage internal and external audit cycles end to end, including evidence, documentation and schedules.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with banking and payments partners.
  • Handle periodic filings, reports and partner obligations.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Engineering and Product teams to keep operations and new products aligned.
  • Present clear, insight-led reconciliation reports to Finance leadership.
  • Turn raw transaction data into decisions, not just status updates.

What they require

  • 5 or more years in high-volume transaction reconciliation across merchant, P2P and other fintech products, with hands-on experience investigating and resolving complex discrepancies.
  • Proven track record in a supervisory or team leadership role within a reconciliations or finance operations environment, including coaching and developing junior staff.
  • Deep understanding of payment and settlement transaction chains in a global or multi-currency regulatory environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and practical experience with modern reconciliation tools, whether automated platforms or well-structured manual processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to present findings clearly to senior leadership and work closely with Engineering and Product teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, meet tight month-end deadlines and maintain precision throughout.
  • Comfortable working a rotating weekend schedule of approximately one Saturday or Sunday per month for three to four hours and covering bank holidays on a rota basis.
  • Preferred: Experience with credit card reconciliation and a working knowledge of credit products.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with general accounting principles and banking system architecture.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
