What you'll do

  • Enhance the team’s capacity to deliver assigned stories by the end of the sprint.
  • Ensure Core Values are reflected within the project team, QA assurance team, and department.
  • Perform automated testing and API testing for complex applications and scenarios.
  • Locate and document edge cases by understanding project depth and intricacies.
  • Assess possible risks and propose modifications to acceptance criteria.
  • Demonstrate proficiency at automation, API testing, or accessibility testing principles and solutions.
  • Document plans for anticipated risks and blockers.
  • Advance best practices.
  • Mentor peers and more junior team members.
  • Serve as a technical SME in the sprint.
  • Ensure successful delivery of the sprint commitment by prioritizing testing efforts and enhancing acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct recruiting interviews.
  • Analyze candidates to support successful hiring or contracting.
  • Present robust testing plans, metrics, insight, and direction during sprint review meetings.
  • Propose solutions and improvements to clients that improve delivery value.
  • Ensure the team understands acceptance criteria.
  • Track daily progress.
  • Limit the team’s QA kickback.
  • Deliver stories as assigned.
  • Find opportunities to increase capacity and velocity.
  • Plan and delegate technical work for other developers.
  • Anticipate how to deliver value for the client through efficiency and technical debt prevention.
  • Keep in sync with delivery leads on priorities, team allocation, and risks.
  • Act as the technical interface for the client without overloading them with technical jargon.
  • Write complex T-SQL queries from scratch to validate data.
  • Validate data source-to-target, including transformations, data completeness, and end-to-end flows against specs and mapping documents.
  • Test SSRS and Power BI output against SQL queries.

What they require

  • Demonstrable proficiency with desired technologies and tools.
  • Genuine fluency writing complex T-SQL from scratch, since about 95% of the work is writing queries to validate data.
  • Experience with SQL fundamentals including duplicates, joins, primary vs. surrogate keys, query execution order, and reconciliation.
  • Experience validating ETL and data warehouse source-to-target flows, transformations, data completeness, and end-to-end flows against specs and mapping documents.
  • Solid grasp of test cases, test plans, test strategy, positive/negative testing, performance and load testing, and data completeness testing.
  • Strong SQL without QA discipline is not a fit, and QA without complex SQL is not a fit.
  • Comfortable testing SSRS and Power BI output against your own SQL queries.
  • Hands-on experience across SQL Server, data warehouse, SSRS, and Power BI.
  • Preferred: Azure data sources, SSAS cubes, and version control.
  • Preferred: Deep Power BI/Fabric or modeling depth.
  • 5-8 years professional experience in relevant technology and projects.
  • Experience with ongoing adherence to best practices.
  • Experience leading and executing automated testing for web and mobile applications.
  • Experience leveraging industry-standard tools to ensure optimal product quality across all stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience presenting to client stakeholders and communicating technical and business value.
  • Experience understanding and articulating the business outcomes impacted by development projects.
  • Experience with coaching and mentoring, demonstrated through ad-hoc collaboration and structured code reviews.
  • Relevant education may include intensive programs, a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
