What you'll do

  • Own money movement end to end, including bank payment types, the payroll card program, and employer/worker payout surfaces.
  • Build payments capability as services with explicit API and data contracts, designing for multi-tenant scale and backward compatibility.
  • Produce detailed requirements (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, field-level mapping) and work embedded with engineering through delivery.
  • Define success metrics and guardrails, run experiments, and use staged rollouts for changes.
  • Bring order to ambiguity by turning symptoms into scoped work, deciding with incomplete information, and building alignment across functions and with partners.

What they require

  • 7+ years in product management, with 5+ years building payments or financial infrastructure product.
  • Under-the-hood knowledge of how money moves and settles across ACH, RTP, wires, and card rails, including return and exception handling.
  • Experience building payments capability as reusable services with real API and data contracts.
  • Direct experience with sponsor banks, processors, or card networks, including technical integration and commercial/compliance obligations.
  • Ability to write detailed requirements for payment systems that shipped (PRDs, stories, acceptance criteria, edge cases, field-level mapping).
  • Experience scaling a payment system through significant volume growth and bringing clarity to ambiguous 0→1 problems.
  • Proficiency in designing, running, and interpreting A/B tests, and comfort with staged/canary rollouts and guardrail metrics.
  • Strong technical fluency, including reading API contracts, data models, and evaluating third-party integrations.
  • Systems thinking, obsessing over edge cases, failure scenarios, migration paths, backward compatibility, and performance benchmarks.
  • Shipped in agile with real accountability for delivery and owned a production payment incident as the product person.
  • Used AI tools to compound output, with genuine curiosity about where AI fits into payment systems.
  • Preferred: Earned Wage Access, payroll, or on-demand pay background.
  • Preferred: Card issuing or payroll card program depth (BIN management, cardholder lifecycle, network compliance, processor operations).
  • Preferred: Treasury, ledger, reconciliation, or cash management product experience.
  • Preferred: Experience directing distributed or contracted engineering capacity.
  • Preferred: SQL or scripting self-sufficiency; pulled and analyzed own data.
  • Preferred: Hands-on with experimentation and analytics tooling.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Reg E, CFPB guidance, NACHA operating rules, PCI, state money transmission, or open banking frameworks.
  • Preferred: Built at a 50–500 person company where the financial platform was still being assembled.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

Benefits

  • Flexible PTO (no accrual caps, no counting days).
  • 10 paid holidays, including Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
  • Comprehensive health coverage: Medical through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (PPO and HDHP options, HSA-eligible with employer contribution), plus dental and vision through MetLife.
  • FSA, Basic Life/AD&D, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • 401(k) with a 100% match up to 3% of your salary, eligible after 90 days.
