What you'll do

  • Own features from first customer conversation through production release.
  • Write product specs yourself.
  • Pair closely with engineers through the build.
  • Oversee that shipped production design matches what you designed.
  • Frame problems and decide what ships.
  • Work in a small team, usually with one or two engineers.
  • Maintain the components and patterns that make design fast.
  • Own how the team ships without PMs.
  • Run the ticketing workflow and keep engineers unblocked.
  • Build tools and skills such as Cursor rules, design QA skills, and prompt templates that let engineers do good design work without you in the room.
  • Talk to customers.
  • Bring the V1 design and adjust it quickly based on engineering feasibility and edge cases.
  • Create prototype-grade designs with real components, states, and copy.
  • Keep the component library current.
  • Stay involved after handoff in the engineering channel.
  • Review PRs.
  • Verify changes on production.
  • Use Claude to pressure-test ideas, draft specs, surface edge cases, and write test cases.
  • Ship your first design to production in month 1.
  • Get into the codebase, customer language, and Secfix's spec-writing process.
  • Sit on customer calls.
  • Own a full feature end-to-end in month 2, including customer conversations, problem framing, Figma, spec, engineer pairing, PR review, and production verification.
  • Push the design system forward from month 3 onward.
  • Build tools and skills that make engineers faster at design.
  • Improve the product design process.
  • Defend the product design quality bar.

  • Ability to set the design bar without a design organization behind you.
  • Portfolio centered on your own contributions, not only team work.

  • Clear and concise English communication in Slack, docs, and calls.
  • Fast in Figma with or without AI.
  • Serious existing use of LLMs.
  • Treat engineering feasibility as input rather than constraint.
