Alternative Payments is building the financial operating system for SMBs, consolidating the disconnected tech stack that holds service-based businesses back. Starting with MSPs, we've spent five years perfecting accounts receivable, and we're now expanding into accounts payable, AI-powered analytics, and beyond. We're looking for a Product Designer with a research-first mindset, someone who thrives on untangling complex problems and grounding design decisions in evidence. This role blends deep UX research with end-to-end product design, from discovery to polished interface. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers and stakeholders to build experiences that are visually refined and deeply aligned with our users' workflows and goals.

What You'll Do

• Own the discovery process: plan and run user research including interviews, usability testing, surveys and data analysis to uncover insights and validate design decisions;
• Define what's worth researching: frame the questions, choose the right method for each problem and keep a continuous discovery cadence running alongside delivery;
• Synthesize findings into actionable design opportunities, and help shape the product roadmap with them;
• Build and maintain a shared research repository so insights compound over time and stay accessible across the team;
• Design intuitive, accessible and aesthetically consistent interfaces for web applications;
• Own design work from low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, ensuring pixel-perfect implementation;
• Partner with engineers during implementation to maintain design quality and fidelity;
• Collaborate with Product Managers to define scope, requirements and success metrics for features;
• Present design concepts, research findings and rationale to stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer, UX/UI Designer or similar role;
• Hands-on experience leading UX research end-to-end, from study design and recruiting to synthesis and sharing results;
• Fluency across qualitative and quantitative methods, and good judgment about which one a given question actually calls for;
• Strong portfolio demonstrating problem solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to design complex workflows;
• Proficiency with Figma (or similar tools) for design, prototyping and collaboration;
• Understanding of accessibility principles and best practices in design;
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences;
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, remote-first environment.

Nice to Have

• Comfort turning ideas into working front-end prototypes, whether hand-coded or built with AI-assisted tools;
• Fluency using AI as part of your process more broadly: accelerating exploration, generating and testing concepts faster, supporting research synthesis, and cutting the time between question and answer;
• Experience designing for B2B SaaS platforms or fintech products;
• Experience working with payment products or teams;
• Knowledge of behavioral design or cognitive psychology principles.

  • The total compensation range for this role is 60k -84k USD, plus equity. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the approximate total target compensation for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including relevant skills, experience, education/training.
