What you'll do

  • Assist Relationship Manager in gathering information necessary to make appropriate credit decisions, including meeting with customers and following up directly.
  • Develop credit packages and loan servicing actions for larger and complex credits.
  • Review and analyze credit information; request appraisal/field reports, third party verifications, credit reports, and lien searches as necessary.
  • Complete loan analysis including financial statements, cash flows, loan analysis forms, trend sheets, narratives, and opinions on creditworthiness, risks and mitigants.
  • Formulate projections using historical financial data and current budgets.
  • Input required financial information and data into financial analysis, loan origination and other loan processing systems.
  • Make approval recommendations on loan actions per the Association’s Loan Underwriting Standards and regulatory requirements; independently recommend approvals on complex credits with limited oversight.
  • Participate in loan committee meetings and support/ articulate credit decisions.
  • Prepare information for Participation/Syndication partners and participate in lender meetings as required.
  • Monitor assigned portfolio for servicing needs and compliance with loan terms and conditions.
  • Determine and review legal documentation; coordinate with credit/approval departments, attorneys and title companies on loan closings.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and represent underwriting in cross-functional projects and strategic planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What they require

  • BA/BS degree with emphasis on agribusiness, business administration, or equivalent.
  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible banking or related agricultural lending experience.
  • Prior experience and expertise in one or more of the following industries: Permanent Plantings, Winery, Vineyard, or Row Crops.
  • Demonstrated analytical and statistical skills to effectively evaluate loan requests and form independent opinions of creditworthiness aligned with organization credit philosophy and risk appetite.
  • Demonstrated understanding of agricultural lending principles and practices, and association and Farm Credit System operating policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Participation and Syndication credits.
  • Knowledge of FCA regulations, association, and district policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in use of PC, including word-processing, e-mail and electronic spreadsheet software.
