What you'll do

  • Design and build a self-service internal developer platform, golden paths, templates, and guardrails so engineers can provision, deploy, and operate services without raising tickets.
  • Embed AI-driven automation into the platform, including intelligent cost optimisation, anomaly detection, auto-remediation, and developer productivity tooling.
  • Own cloud infrastructure on AWS, including architecture, cost efficiency, reliability, and security posture, with clear metrics and accountability for outcomes.
  • Act as the internal product manager for the platform by talking to engineers, collecting requirements, prioritising by impact on developer velocity, and running a visible roadmap.
  • Set and enforce platform standards, IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and secrets management.
  • Identify and fix the biggest sources of friction in the engineering workflow using data, and present findings to engineering leadership.
  • Work lean and autonomously, pushing things to production yourself.

What they require

  • Proven track record building an internal developer platform or developer experience function from scratch, not just maintaining one someone else built.
  • Deep AWS expertise, including designing cost-efficient, production-grade cloud architectures and defending Terraform decisions.
  • Strong DevOps and platform engineering fundamentals, including Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability stacks, IaC, and judgement about when to use each.
  • Experience treating internal engineers as customers, gathering requirements, running a backlog, and measuring adoption.
  • Comfortable working without a spec in fast-moving environments where you set direction as much as follow it.
  • Proficient in at least one scripting or backend language such as Python, Go, or equivalent, and confident building automation and tooling.
  • Experience actively building AI-powered tooling into platform and infrastructure workflows, including cost anomaly detection, intelligent alerting, and automated runbooks.
  • Built or contributed meaningfully to an internal developer portal such as Backstage, Port, or a comparable in-house system, and can speak concretely about what worked, what did not, and why.
  • Preferred: Previous fintech or regulated-industry experience where security and compliance constraints shaped platform decisions.
  • Preferred: Exposure to multi-region or multi-currency infrastructure at scale, ideally serving markets in Africa, Europe, or the Americas.

Benefits

  • Work on complex challenges with real, immediate impact.
  • Work that puts money back in families’ pockets and offers access to the previously excluded.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful difference for millions.
