What you'll do

  • Run and own design critique and research review; set standards for prototyping and interaction quality.
  • Own accessibility work including WCAG conformance and assistive-technology testing integrated into the workflow.
  • Coach teams to run documentary-style timeline interviews and convert research into actionable job stories (JTBD) for the backlog.
  • Define interaction patterns, principles, and guardrails for AI-driven UX across the product portfolio and build a usable pattern library.
  • Design evaluation approaches to test whether patterns work in practice and reduce debate.
  • Integrate AI into research synthesis, early exploration, and design ops while keeping human judgement central.
  • Define handoff standards, technical documentation, and processes for Product and Engineering collaboration.
  • Make trade-offs explicit where feasibility, business goals, and user needs conflict.
  • Define research standards, methods, tooling, and hold the line on rigour (sampling, bias, method limits).
  • Build and run Design Operations and Research Operations (tooling, templates, participant recruitment, processes).
  • Set strategic direction for the company design system in partnership with Engineering.
  • Hire, onboard, manage performance, and grow designers and researchers; steward and extend the UX career framework across IC and people-lead tracks.
  • Design and personally run high-stakes facilitation sessions (discovery workshops, co-design, prioritisation, enterprise/customer sessions, advisory boards).

What they require

  • Minimum of 5 years of substantial experience in UX with genuine depth in both user research and product design.
  • At least 5 years managing designers and/or researchers directly, with demonstrated examples of growing people.
  • Hands-on Jobs to be Done experience: running switch interviews, converting outputs into job stories that changed product outcomes; understanding functional/emotional/social jobs and JTBD limits.
  • Hands-on experience designing or leading design for AI or ML-powered features with a clear POV on trustworthiness.
  • Deep command of research methodology: unbiased interviewing, surveys, concept and usability testing, ethnographic work, and mixed-method study design.
  • Strong design craft in information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and ability to explain solutions to engineers and executives.
  • Experience defining outcome-based UX metrics and using them to influence roadmaps.
  • Fluency in design-engineering handoff within an Agile environment.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to investigate loosely defined, cross-team problems.
  • B2B or enterprise SaaS experience, ideally with developer- or IT-adjacent products.
  • Strong workshop design and facilitation experience with mixed stakeholder rooms.
  • Experience working directly with high-profile or strategic customers and converting sessions into actionable research and stronger relationships.
