What you'll do

  • Own the craft bar: run design critique and research review, set standards for prototyping and interaction quality, and ensure accessibility (WCAG conformance and assistive-technology testing).
  • Define and scale AI-driven UX interaction patterns, principles, and guardrails (communication of uncertainty, permission, undo/recovery, explainability).
  • Coach and operationalize Jobs to be Done research: run documentary-style timeline interviews, turn outputs into actionable job stories for engineering.
  • Define research standards, methods, tooling, sampling and bias controls; drive research that changes product decisions.
  • Build design operations and research operations: tooling, templates, participant recruitment, and processes to scale the discipline.
  • Set strategic direction for the design system with Engineering and deliver a reusable pattern library and evaluation approach.
  • Own handoff standards, technical documentation, and collaboration with Engineering and Product; make trade-offs explicit where feasibility, business goals and user needs conflict.
  • Hire, onboard, manage performance and grow designers and researchers; steward and extend the UX career framework across IC and people-lead paths.
  • Design and personally run high-stakes facilitation sessions (discovery workshops, co-design, prioritisation, customer sessions, advisory boards) that produce actionable outcomes and strengthen relationships.

What they require

  • Minimum of 5 years of substantial experience in UX with genuine depth in both user research and product design.
  • At least 5 years managing designers and/or researchers directly, with examples of people you've grown.
  • Hands-on Jobs to be Done experience: run switch interviews, convert outputs into job stories, and discern when JTBD is or isn't the right lens.
  • Hands-on experience designing or leading AI/ML-powered features and a clear point of view on what makes those experiences trustworthy.
  • Deep command of research methodology: unbiased interviewing, surveys, concept and usability testing, ethnographic work, and mixed-method study design.
  • Strong design craft: information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and ability to explain solutions to engineers and executives.
  • Experience defining outcome-based UX metrics and using them to influence roadmaps.
  • Fluency in design/engineering handoff within an Agile environment.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: ability to investigate loosely defined, cross-team problems before forming solutions.
  • B2B or enterprise SaaS experience, ideally with developer- or IT-adjacent products.
  • Strong workshop design and facilitation experience and working directly with high-profile or strategic customers to turn sessions into actionable research.
