What you'll do

  • Run design critique and research review; set standards for prototyping and interaction quality and enforce craft without becoming a bottleneck.
  • Own accessibility: WCAG conformance and assistive-technology testing integrated into delivery flow.
  • Coach and operationalize Jobs-to-be-Done research (switch interviews, documented job stories) and get job stories into engineering-ready backlog items.
  • Define interaction patterns, principles and guardrails for AI-driven UX; build a pattern library and evaluation approach for AI agents across the product portfolio.
  • Integrate AI into research synthesis, early exploration and design ops while protecting human judgement.
  • Establish handoff standards, technical documentation and collaboration practices with Engineering and Product; make trade-offs explicit.
  • Define research standards, methods and tooling; ensure rigour (sampling, bias, limits of methods).
  • Design and run Design Operations and Research Operations: tooling, templates, participant recruitment and scalable processes.
  • Set strategic direction for the design system with Engineering to improve consistency and reuse.
  • Hire, onboard, manage performance and grow designers and researchers; steward and extend the UX career framework across IC and people-leader tracks.
  • Facilitate high-stakes workshops: discovery, co-design, prioritisation, and customer-facing sessions for enterprise accounts and executive stakeholders.

What they require

  • Minimum of 5 years of substantial experience in UX with genuine depth in both user research and product design.
  • At least 5 years managing designers and/or researchers directly, with demonstrated examples of developing people.
  • Hands-on Jobs to be Done experience: run switch interviews, distinguish JTBD from usability testing, and translate outputs into job stories that changed product decisions.
  • Hands-on experience designing or leading design for AI or ML-powered features with a clear POV on trustworthy experiences.
  • Deep command of research methodology: unbiased interviewing, surveys, concept & usability testing, ethnographic and mixed-method study design.
  • Strong design craft: information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and ability to explain solutions to engineers and executives.
  • Experience defining outcome-based UX metrics and using them to influence roadmaps.
  • Fluency in design/engineering handoff inside Agile environments.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and cross-team, loosely defined problems requiring investigation.
  • B2B or enterprise SaaS experience, ideally with developer- or IT-adjacent products.
  • Experience working directly with high-profile or strategic customers and converting those engagements into actionable research.
