What you'll do

  • Manage and grow a team of RCM associates and contractors, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Build a team culture where people do great work.
  • Own daily revenue cycle execution, including medical coding, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and A/R follow-up.
  • Maintain a weekly rhythm that keeps work on track and clears blockers quickly.
  • Own high-priority projects end-to-end, including new client implementations, process overhauls, and system rollouts.
  • Scope project work, align resources, keep leadership informed, and drive projects to completion.
  • Track and report on KPIs such as clean claim rate, days in A/R, and net collection rate.
  • Flag trends and recommend improvements to the Head of RCM.
  • Participate in key client conversations to build trust and strengthen relationships.
  • Keep the team's work compliant with HIPAA and payer-specific guidelines.
  • Build processes and documentation that keep work consistent as the team grows.

What they require

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, medical billing, or healthcare operations.
  • At least 2 years managing mid-size teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency in leveraging RCM technology, such as clearinghouses, EHR/PM systems, and advanced tools for managing denials.
  • Strong track record of driving projects to completion: organized, proactive, and consistent in follow-through.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using operational data to manage team performance and surface insights.
  • Strong people management skills, with experience hiring, coaching, and developing a remote team of associates and/or contractors.
  • History of meaningful client engagement, with the ability to communicate clearly and build trust with external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with RCM in the eye care, optometry, or ophthalmology industry.
  • Preferred: Professional coding certification such as CPC or COC.
  • Preferred: Experience working in a client service environment, managing RCM for external healthcare practices.
  • Preferred: Deep understanding of RCM platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience managing a mix of full-time employees and contractors.
