Description
The US Legal Counsel will provide strategic legal guidance across KAST's US operations. You will work closely with Product, Compliance and GTM / Business teams to ensure compliance with US federal and state regulations, and support KAST's engagement with regulators and industry groups. This role is ideal for a lawyer who thrives in fast-moving environments and is passionate about building the legal foundations for the future of money.
Responsibilities
- Advising the business on compliance and legal issues related to structuring new and existing stablecoin, payments, and card products and features
- Expanding KAST’s product offering in line with regulatory requirements
- Drafting and maintaining customer-facing legal documents including Terms of Service, user agreements, and product-specific disclosures
- Managing US regulatory requirements and applications, including state Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs), virtual currency licenses and card network compliance obligations
- Monitoring and advising on developments from the SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, CFPB, and state regulators - including emerging federal stablecoin and digital asset legislation (GENIUS Act; CLARITY) - and their impact on KAST's US business
- Collaborating with Product and Commercial teams to design compliant product structures for retail and institutional clients, including card program agreements
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with counterparties, including service providers, partners and institutional clients.
- Ensuring robust compliance with US financial services regulation including AML, OFAC, sanctions, Reg E, and Reg Z as applicable
- Managing and overseeing US outside counsel relationships, including firm selection, matter scoping, and legal spend
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of PQE
- JD and admission to practice in at least one US jurisdiction required
- Experience advising on digital assets (and payments), including time at a top law firm or in-house
- Knowledge of relevant US financial legislations, regulations and supervisory frameworks
- Familiarity with regulatory positioning and approach of the SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, and state regulators.
- Excellent communicator and stakeholder manager, ability to make decisions where there is ambiguity.

- Knowledge of relevant US financial legislation, regulations and supervisory frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to make decisions amid ambiguity
