Workstate is looking for a Senior iSeries / AS400 RPG Developer to join our team for an immediate contract engagement supporting critical Order Management operations. In this role, you will develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance applications running within an IBM iSeries / AS400 environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance applications running within an IBM iSeries / AS400 environment.
  • Support the CW Direct platform, an iSeries-based Order Management System.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to investigate production issues, implement enhancements, maintain existing functionality, and support reliable Order Management operations in a fast-paced retail and e-commerce environment.

What they require

  • Strong professional experience developing and supporting applications on IBM iSeries / AS400 platforms
  • Advanced proficiency with RPG programming, including RPG IV and/or RPGLE
  • Experience analyzing, maintaining, debugging, and enhancing existing RPG applications
  • Strong experience with DB2 for i, including SQL, database files, queries, and data management
  • Experience working with legacy enterprise applications where documentation may be limited
  • Ability to understand unfamiliar application code, business logic, data structures, and system dependencies with minimal ramp-up time
  • Experience troubleshooting production issues and performing root-cause analysis
  • Familiarity with Order Management Systems or similar transaction-oriented enterprise applications
  • Understanding of retail, e-commerce, fulfillment, inventory, or order-processing workflows
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience working within established production environments where reliability and operational continuity are critical
  • Familiarity with source control, software release processes, and structured development practices
  • Ability to communicate technical issues and proposed solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • B2-level English competency or higher, with the ability to communicate effectively in professional settings, both verbally and in writing
