What you'll do

  • Develops commodity sourcing strategies to address supply market conditions, technology roadmaps and product needs/forecasts.
  • Primary owner for the supplier relationship; drive supplier selection, qualification, development and overall supplier management.
  • Drive global supply base consolidation analysis, planning and implementation.
  • Conducts and processes quote requests, including coordinating clarifications with engineering, analyzing quote responses, conducting detailed cost analysis, preparing sourcing recommendations.
  • Lead negotiations, including final pricing, and the establishment of supply contracts or agreements.
  • Coordinates with site managers to identify supply needs and conduct sourcing analysis.
  • Owns communication for contract data and volumes across global teams and supply base.
  • Drive continuous cost and performance improvements by analyzing cost drivers, processes and specifications for improvement opportunities.
  • Leverage supplier capabilities and business opportunities on a domestic and international basis.
  • Initiate and maintain internal and external communications regarding sourcing, pricing and demand for materials.
  • Performs other tasks, as required.

What they require

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a related Bachelor's Degree.
  • A minimum of five years of commodity purchasing experience.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent knowledge of business mathematics.
  • Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
