No BS summary

Senior India-based remote engineer with production depth across data engineering and full-stack development. Must have 5+ years Python, FastAPI, SQL/dbt, PostgreSQL, a modern data platform, cloud CI/CD on AWS or Azure, and daily AI coding-agent workflow experience. Client-facing delivery and end-to-end ownership are required.

What you'll do

  • Own work end to end from discovery and solution shaping through system design, build, and production deployment.
  • Design and build the data foundation, including data models, schema design, dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and slowly changing dimensions that hold up in production.
  • Build full-stack applications on top of the data foundation using Python/FastAPI services and Next.js frontends.
  • Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code or equivalent as a primary build accelerator to move from spec to working software quickly without sacrificing judgment or quality.
  • Design and build AI capabilities where they fit, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-in-the-loop processing.
  • Compose AI capabilities via MCP servers, Skills, and Plugins.
  • Orchestrate pipelines and automation with tools like Airflow, Dagster/Prefect, Celery, or Temporal, choosing the right tool for the job.
  • Stand up and own CI/CD and cloud deployments on AWS and Azure.
  • Translate ambiguous client requirements into clear designs and communicate trade-offs to technical and business audiences.
  • Contribute reusable accelerators and technical assets back to the Data Practice.
  • Map client problems, structure solutions, and own outcomes end to end across client delivery and internal accelerator development.

What they require

  • Genuine production depth across data engineering and full-stack development, not surface familiarity with either.
  • Data modeling and schema design experience, including dimensional modeling, normalization trade-offs, and EDW/warehouse schema design you can defend.
  • Hands-on data pipeline experience with ETL/ELT design across batch and incremental loads, built and maintained in production, not just SQL scripts on a schedule.
  • Knowledge of Slowly Changing Dimensions and change-data handling patterns and when each applies.
  • dbt experience with modular SQL transformations, tests, documentation, and incremental strategies.
  • Advanced SQL and at least one modern data platform in depth, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or a comparable cloud warehouse/lakehouse.
  • Data quality thinking, with testing, validation, and lineage treated as first-class concerns.
  • 5+ years with Python as a primary language for services, automation, and data work.
  • FastAPI experience with async REST API design, dependency injection, and testing.
  • Experience with a modern frontend, ideally Next.js, including component architecture, SSR, state management, and real UX sensibility.
  • PostgreSQL experience with schema design, query optimization, and indexing.
  • System design ability to architect from a blank page, including services, boundaries, trade-offs, and scale.
  • AI-paired engineering experience using an agentic coding tool such as Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable as a genuine daily workflow accelerator, with ability to explain how.
  • CI/CD and cloud deployment ownership on AWS or Azure without heavy support.
  • Comfortable in client-facing delivery and able to represent TechTorch technically and translate between business and engineering.
  • Customer-first mindset, anchoring decisions in stakeholder goals and moving between engineering and business-owner perspectives.
  • End-to-end ownership instinct, taking a problem from discovery to production and owning the outcome rather than passing it along at handoffs.
  • Comfortable designing a data model and shipping a FastAPI + Next.js feature on top of it.
  • Treats an AI coding agent as a force multiplier and has genuinely changed how they build.
  • Can explain an SCD strategy to an engineer and a data-quality risk to a business stakeholder.
  • Has shipped real things in production, not just demos or proofs of concept.
  • Opinionated about system and data design and can back it up.
  • Preferred: Commercial data fluency, including experience evaluating how commercial data flows across CRM and ERP from opportunity to order to invoice, with ability to diagnose, document, and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Preferred: Experience in a consulting or client-delivery environment, or a forward-deployed or embedded engineering role.
  • Preferred: Contributions to open-source AI or data tooling, or to internal accelerators and frameworks.
  • Preferred: Multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architecture exposure.

Benefits

  • Fully remote.
  • Semi-annual team offsites at least twice a year.
  • High-autonomy, high-ownership work across the full arc of real client problems, not toy datasets or boxed-in tickets.
  • A team that takes AI tooling seriously and expects you to use it.
  • Access to the full modern data and AI stack.
  • Room to grow toward data architecture, platform leadership, or AI engineering depth.

TechTorch helps companies design, build, and deploy AI agents that automate complex real-world workflows. Its Data Practice designs and builds AI-native systems spanning data infrastructure, pipelines, intelligent automation, and full-stack AI applications.
