What you'll do

  • Own and manage the entire client billing/invoicing process to ensure accuracy
  • Perform the client revenue validation process to ensure invoice accuracy
  • Manage the tracking and reporting of accounts receivable and the related aging report
  • Own and manage the clients payments and reconciliation process against the payment processor, the accounting system and the bank respectively
  • Monitor the organization's bank operating accounts for client payment reconciliation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for and partner with a 3rd party vendor in managing the full cycle of the sales tax process including tax calculation, invoice posting, tracking sales tax payment and collection, and filing state tax returns to ensure accuracy, timely submission and full compliance
  • Assist in the full cycle of financial / accounting operations for the month end close process
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial activity and accounting treatment recorded in ActBlue's books
  • Ensure the financial activity in compliance with accounting policies, applicable government rules and regulations and US GAAP
  • Assist in annual audits preparation and bank accounts reconciliation, updating on accounting and financial policies
  • Support the preparation of regulatory reporting to various authorities on a monthly and yearly basis
  • Lead design and development of executive management reporting and analysis to be used by stakeholders across the organization.
  • Develop key metrics to facilitate management analysis e.g., customers metrics
  • Support and contribute to the design and delivery of executive financial reporting and metrics used by ELT for business reviews, reporting, and analysis, including headcount analysis and projections, labor strategy reporting, and workforce planning related to long-term organizational strategy, including owning identified workstreams
  • Will serve as the first point of analysis for confidential labor relations cost analysis, including bargaining unit compensation modeling, contract proposal costing, and financial exposure analysis used directly by Senior leadership in connection with negotiation
  • Maintains advance, pre-decisional access to ActBlue's labor strategy in connection with providing financial analysis; handles all labor relations financial data in a confidential capacity.
  • Lead complex, high-priority finance initiatives across their full lifecycle, partnering with senior stakeholders
  • Develops recommendations on financial and operational policy creation and interpretation arising from assigned workstreams, including policies that constitute or implicate financial impact on the organization.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Director of FP&A on special projects, including policy formulation and implementation, systems integration, process improvement, and issue resolution
  • Support long term business development strategy including acquisitions strategy, cost projections, workforce planning analysis, and organizational due diligence
  • Leverage on AI technologies to improve process and achieve efficiencies

What they require

  • 5 to 8 years proven working experience in accounting, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, month end close and Accounts Receivable Aging
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Advanced technical skills, proficient in Microsoft/Excel/Google sheets
  • Experience in: client bills/invoice creation and process
  • Experience in: managing client payments and reconciliation
  • Experience in: cash management and bank accounts reconciliation to the ledger
  • Experience in: managing sales tax (collection, payment, state tax filing)
  • Experience in: revenue validation and reconciliation
  • Experience in: preparing audits and regulatory reporting
  • Experience in: managing stakeholders across the organization
  • Preferred: large scale project management is a plus
  • Experience in: identifying process gaps and deficiencies with solutions and execution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentations skills, and a commitment to collaborate with people at all levels and with diverse backgrounds
  • A strong interest in building processes and procedures and identifying opportunities for efficiency
  • Strong experience successfully managing complex projects/processes with a variety of stakeholders
  • A natural curiosity and excellent organizational abilities
  • Strong problem solving skills with creativity and thinking outside the box
  • A team player, detail-oriented, aversion to error, big picture oriented, independent requiring minimal supervision; manager serves as a thought partner rather than an escalation point in most decisions
  • This role requires availability during established, regular business hours (Mon-Fri).
  • Employees can expect to work with distributed teams across all U.S. time zones.
  • Our roles require extended technology usage, and proficiency with virtual communication tools such as Zoom and Slack.
  • Regular attendance in virtual meetings is inherent to every position.
  • Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year).
  • Additional travel may be required for select positions.
  • This position is excluded from any bargaining unit as a confidential employee.
