What you'll do

  • Lead assessment development and scoring for AP Science/Life Science, with final program sign-off on test forms (40-50% of role).
  • Develop, revise, and approve AP Science/Life Science assessment content, including items and forms, and training educators.
  • Independently lead development of assessment forms for AP Science/Life Science, ensuring alignment with curricula and specifications.
  • Integrate generative AI tools in assessment authoring and review to support fairness, validity, and efficiency.
  • Lead AP Science/Life Science Test Development Committees and supervise committee members as content contributors and reviewers.
  • Lead scoring of student responses at annual AP Reading events, in person and online, with publication materials.
  • Monitor exam validity, security, reliability, fairness, and reader quality per established barriers; lead improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with psychometrics to establish fair, reliable, and valid cut scores, and support from AI innovations to scale assessment.
  • Train and mentor course experts and committees on assessment development protocols and AI use.
  • Refine AP Science/Life Science Course Framework, align learning outcomes with college standards and expand student reach.
  • Collaborate with AP teams to develop new products for AP Biology/Environmental Science, and serve as a POC for academic communities.
  • Present and moderate dialogue with educational and membership audiences regarding AP course and exam improvements.

What they require

  • Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or directly related discipline required; doctorate strongly preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development or related work; digital assessment and teaching experience preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with technical proficiency and a customer-focused mindset
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and close attention to detail, proofreading skills
  • Demonstrated ability to implement processes, manage project plans and schedules, and track documentation
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with ability to work across levels and give and receive constructive feedback
  • Passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with willingness to experiment adopt new AI-driven solutions and learn new digital tools
