What you'll do

  • Maturing our existing Snowflake platform: performance, testing, data quality, and observability
  • Designing and building streaming data pipelines, moving high-value use cases off batch and onto event-driven patterns
  • Contributing to the architectural roadmap for Zepto's data services
  • Partnering with product and engineering to scope and ship data products for external customers and partners
  • Implementing and managing data orchestration tools and frameworks to support robust data pipelines.
  • Providing hands-on analytics engineering to support and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Expanding our foundations to maintain enterprise-grade data governance and compliance.
  • Including building on our foundations of data lineage, metadata management, and data transparency.
  • Play a hands-on role in integrating AI into how we work – embracing the setup, documentation, and cross-team alignment of AI tools so our processes are scalable, structured, efficient and built to last beyond any one person.

What they require

  • Proven experience automating and supporting production grade hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Worked with modern data stack tooling and have perspective and experience about where it breaks down at scale.
  • Ideally, you've taken a data team from "reporting function" to "product function" before, or you're itching to.
  • Energised and enthusiastic, comfortable in a busy, high-volume, competitive commercial environment.
  • Collaboration skills make you a valued member of the team and fundamentally a good colleague to work with.
  • At least 5+ years of dedicated Data Engineering experience, with a proven track record designing and implementing a modern data stack
  • Hands-on experience with data warehouses, ideally Snowflake
  • Real experience with streaming/event-driven data technologies (eg. Kafka, Kinesis, or similar)
  • Deep SQL and analytics engineering skill, and comfort optimising warehouse performance at scale
  • Experience shipping data as a product: APIs, data feeds, or partner-facing datasets, not just internal dashboards
  • Comfortable writing high quality Python code and Bash
  • Experience with CI/CD for data projects, and managing data infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred)
  • Knowledge architecting and administering solutions in a Public Cloud (preferably AWS)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with other engineers and to get hands-on across the data stack (back-end, application databases, external services)
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to unlock value from data across the business
  • Driving AI maturity and adoption: Embedding AI tools into the rhythm of daily work across the team, ensuring processes are structured, documented, and consistently followed — reducing key person dependency and building a foundation that scales.
