Impulse Space is seeking a Senior Counsel, Head of Government Contracts, to serve as the company’s in-house expert on U.S. government and defense contracting. This senior role is central to Impulse’s mission of advancing in-space transportation, providing strategic legal counsel across the full lifecycle of government programs.

What you'll do

  • Advise executives and cross-functional teams on all aspects of government contracts and subcontracts, including prime and subcontractor relationships.
  • Interpret and apply FAR, DFARS, and related regulations.
  • Negotiate complex agreements.
  • Manage compliance obligations.
  • Support contract performance, modifications, and disputes.
  • Develop scalable processes and training.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage outside counsel for specialized matters.

What they require

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active U.S. bar membership.
  • At least 10 years of government contracts law experience.
  • 5+ years in aerospace or defense.
  • Deep knowledge of government contracting principles.
  • Strong business judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting defense or national security programs in the space sector.
