What you'll do

  • Provide legal and commercial counsel for a line of business and/or staff group
  • Serve as primary legal support for a line of business and/or staff group and its senior management teams
  • Provide guidance and support in general corporate matters, compliance, drafting transactional documents, license agreements, employment law, immigration law, data privacy, risk management, asset-backed financing, and contract management
  • Conduct research and interpret laws and regulations impacting the organization to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance
  • Identify and assess risk and determine and effectuates appropriate courses of action for a broad spectrum of risks
  • Act as an advisor to other legal staff within the department on specific practice areas
  • Act autonomously as a Line of Business Subject Matter Expert and main point of contact for legal concerns for business partners and departments
  • Provide advice and guidance on daily commercial legal matters relevant to the business and/or staff group and enterprise-wide
  • Maintain relationships with outside counsel and provide recommendations on partnerships and contracts
  • Possess detailed working knowledge of Line of Business/Business Partner/Pillar operations and company operations
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What they require

  • Juris Doctorate degree and a current State Bar License to practice law
  • 7+ years of experience in-house or law firm specializing in health care and/or other specialized areas (procurement, M&A, regulatory, or privacy)
  • Proven success in practice areas; managed teams or team project work; proven ability to support executive leadership and above
  • Excellent organization skills, detail oriented and ability to multitask
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Proactively collaborates with the Line of Business and the Office of General Counsel to mitigate risk
  • Ability to drive results through informal authority and serve as a consultant to business partners
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in performance of job duties
