What you'll do

  • Drives and manages a profitable and growing book of business.
  • Sells, services and maintains a producer force that can sell and control a profitable and growing book of business.
  • Monitors the production and quality of assigned producers.
  • Drives profitable sale of the Company's products including increasing sales of existing products and introduction of new products.
  • Develops the assigned producer group to improve quality and quantity of business.
  • Serves as the primary Company contact and representative with existing and prospective producers.
  • Keeps alert to industry changes, including WCIRB/NCCI rulings, forms, and coverage changes.
  • Prospects and develops new business and prequalifies new producers.
  • Appoints new quality producers; sets and monitors production expectations.
  • Maintains knowledge of assigned geographic territory regarding production sources and competitor activity.
  • Directs activities pertaining to industry affairs and trade show events including exhibiting and lead generation follow up.
  • Manages marketing research to identify opportunities for product enhancements and new markets.
  • Supports strategic programs to promote new products and reposition existing products.
  • Utilizes high level underwriting authority to price Company’s products and accept/reject complex risks.
  • Quotes retro, deductible plans, and other complex pricing products and conducts presentations explaining them.
  • Delivers customer service through collaborative relationships and producer visitations.
  • Provides production support through underwriting and production presentations.
  • Regular visits to outside locations such as producer’s offices; uses company technology to be available to customers.

What they require

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Statistics or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in underwriting required; 7 years preferred.
  • Current driver’s license required.
  • Demonstrated success servicing clients and building/maintaining relationships with production sources.
  • Proven sales and effective relationship management skills.
  • Ability to apply fundamental to advanced underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures in an area of specialization.
  • Ability to read and interpret submissions, loss control reports, and standard policy forms/endorsements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead special projects and mentor/train professional and support staff.
