What you'll do

  • Serving as primary technical contact for Australian customers, building relationships with both technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Supporting pre-sales alongside Sales: technical discovery, data-readiness assessments, and architecture discussions
  • Leading technical onboarding: reviewing Single Line Diagrams, mapping sensor hierarchies (cell to string to rack to enclosure to PCS to system), and configuring sensor specifications in Databricks before KPI rollout
  • Managing KPI rollout and validation: releasing TWAICE KPIs, and diagnosing sensor data quality issues, insufficient cycling data, and aggregation errors
  • Leading performance analysis during commissioning and augmentation: interpreting capacity test results, flagging anomalies (cell imbalances, voltage spread issues, RTE gaps), and producing executive-ready outputs.
  • Surfacing recurring product gaps and customer feedback to Product and Engineering
  • Running platform training for performance engineers, O&M leads, and asset managers
  • Up to 40% travel for customer meetings and on-site visits across Australia

What they require

  • BESS industry experience is required. You have worked as a performance engineer, systems engineer, or O&M engineer. You know what happens inside a BESS project from commissioning through the first year of operation
  • Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated BESS experience
  • Comfortable with Python in an analytical context: processing sensor data, validating signal quality, debugging anomalies. Databricks experience is a plus
  • Deep knowledge of lithium-ion battery behavior, degradation mechanisms, capacity fade, DC internal resistance, SoC estimation, and cell voltage/temperature imbalances
  • Familiarity with BESS data flows and ingestion protocols (Modbus, IEC-104, OPC-UA, REST API, SFTP)
  • Familiarity with the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) - including dispatch mechanics, FCAS markets, capacity credit obligations, and 5-minute settlement - and how these shape BESS operating constraints and asset owner priorities
  • Understanding that NEM time (UTC+10, no DST) is used for grid-connected asset data logging in Australia, and the implications this has for KPI configuration and data validation, is a plus
  • Communication is sharp and clear, no matter the audience
  • Organized, customer-focused, and comfortable in a fast-moving startup

Benefits

  • Flexible Working: We trust you to get the job done. Remote-first with autonomy on how and where you deliver. Everyone comes together for our annual kick-off at Munich HQ.
  • Equity Participation: Every employee is offered a stock-option plan so you can share in TWAICE’s success.
  • Benefits: Superannuation, 20+ days annual leave

The energy transition runs on batteries. As renewable energy reshapes the global power system, batteries are taking center stage. Making them reliable, safe and scalable are the defining challenges of the energy transition. At TWAICE, we build software that turns battery data into insights, so that we can help the world reach net zero faster.
