What you'll do

  • Own month-end close processes across multiple U.S.-based client accounts
  • Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger activities
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting workpapers
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Ensure client books remain clean, organized, and reporting-ready
  • Manage multiple accounting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Manage employee setup and onboarding within payroll systems
  • Work with platforms such as Gusto, ADP, Paylocity
  • Prepare and file U.S. state sales tax returns
  • Maintain supporting documentation for payroll and compliance requirements
  • Ensure deadlines and regulatory requirements are consistently met
  • Prepare accurate financial reporting packages for clients
  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, variances, and opportunities
  • Build custom reports and dashboards based on client needs
  • Translate financial data into practical business insights
  • Present financial information clearly to business owners and non-financial stakeholders
  • Support clients with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Analyze actual performance against expectations
  • Help business owners understand the financial impact of operational decisions
  • Provide proactive financial insights rather than simply reporting historical numbers
  • Review existing accounting workflows and procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, accuracy, and internal controls
  • Document accounting processes and SOPs
  • Help standardize workflows across multiple client engagements
  • Improve scalability as the client portfolio grows
  • Serve as a trusted accounting partner to business owners
  • Manage financial communication across multiple client relationships
  • Explain accounting concepts in clear, business-friendly language
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client questions
  • Proactively identify issues before they become larger problems
  • Build client trust through accuracy, responsiveness, and strong financial ownership
  • Review accounting activity across multiple client accounts

What they require

  • 5–10 years of accounting and finance experience
  • Strong experience supporting multiple U.S.-based clients simultaneously
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Full-cycle accounting experience
  • Proven experience with month-end close, financial reporting, AP/AR, reconciliations, general ledger accounting, payroll, and U.S. sales tax compliance
  • Advanced experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Advanced experience with QuickBooks Desktop and/or Enterprise
  • Experience with AP and expense platforms such as Bill.com, Ramp, or similar AP automation systems
  • Experience with payroll platforms such as Gusto, ADP, Paylocity
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, financial reporting, and data analysis
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong client-facing communication skills
  • Ability to confidently explain financial information to business owners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and competing priorities
  • Self-starter with strong ownership and accountability
  • Preferred: Strong preference for candidates with experience supporting blue-collar and field-service businesses, including HVAC, plumbing, roofing, construction, landscaping, restoration, home services, and field service companies
  • Preferred: Experience within outsourced accounting firms, Client Accounting Services (CAS), Fractional CFO firms, or CPA firms serving multiple clients
  • Preferred: Demonstrated employment stability, including multi-year tenure with previous employers
  • Understand U.S. GAAP and full-cycle accounting
  • Can confidently own multiple client accounts at the same time
  • Are comfortable communicating directly with U.S. business owners
  • Have strong QuickBooks and Excel expertise
  • Can execute accurate month-end closes without heavy supervision
  • Understand payroll and U.S. sales tax requirements
  • Look beyond the numbers to identify trends and business implications
  • Proactively improve accounting systems and workflows
  • Take ownership of deadlines and follow through consistently
  • Thrive in fast-paced, client-service environments
  • Have managed accounting for multiple U.S.-based clients
  • Are highly proficient in QuickBooks and U.S. GAAP
  • Have hands-on experience with month-end close, payroll, and sales tax
  • Can confidently communicate financial information to business owners
